The Bubbly Basin DLC introduces a new underwater setting to Pokémon Pokopia, where Ditto needs help establishing another Pokémon community. Access becomes available after you bring rain to Withered Wasteland and complete several requirements in Bleak Beach.
This guide explains what you need to do before starting the expansion, where to find its opening character and how to reach the underwater entrance.
Requirements for the Bubbly Basin DLC
Bubbly Basin is paid downloadable content, meaning you must purchase it to play through its new area and story. The free 2.0.0 update also adds other features that do not require ownership of the DLC.
Before the new area becomes accessible, complete these three tasks:
- Unlock Bleak Beach, rebuild the Pokémon Center there and learn Surf from Lapras.
- Finish the request “Raise the environment level!” in Bleak Beach by reaching environmental level five.
- Learn the Dive move.
You do not need to own the Bubbly Basin expansion to learn Surf or Dive, or to reach the required environmental level.

Where to begin the Bubbly Basin story
Once the prerequisites are complete, travel to the Pokémon Center in Bleak Beach. You will find Popplio there. Speak with Popplio to receive an invitation to help the underwater city, which starts the Bubbly Basin DLC.

How to reach the Bubbly Basin gate
After speaking with Popplio, follow them to the Bubbly Basin gate. The entrance is underwater on the western side of the Bleak Beach map.
You cannot reach the gate without Dive. If you have not learned the move from Manaphy, return to that task before trying to enter the new area.
