HBO’s new Harry Potter television series has not premiered yet, but production on its second season is already underway. The next season will adapt characters and story elements from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, with Tom Riddle and Ginny Weasley among the roles recently cast or recast.
Three further additions have now been announced: Rafe Spall will play Arthur Weasley, Jasper Ambrose will portray Colin Creevey, and Molly Hewitt-Richards will take on the role of Moaning Myrtle.
Meet the new Chamber of Secrets cast members
Arthur Weasley is the father of Ron, Ginny and the other Weasley children, making him a supporting figure within the wider Hogwarts story. Spall is known for appearances in Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and Apple TV’s Trying. In the previous film series, Arthur was played by Mark Williams.
Colin Creevey is a Hogwarts student and an enthusiastic admirer of Harry Potter. Ambrose has a relatively short acting résumé, although he provided the voice of a sheep in this year’s The Sheep Detectives. Hugh Mitchell played Colin in the films.
Hewitt-Richards’ casting as Moaning Myrtle is particularly significant for the second season. Myrtle was killed by the Basilisk, the Serpent of Slytherin, during the 1940s. She later haunted the bathroom where she died and helped Harry and Ron uncover the Chamber of Secrets. Hewitt-Richards has appeared in the British dramas Code of Silence and Casualty, taking over the part previously played by Shirley Henderson.

Other announced performers include Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Gracie Cochrane as Ginny Weasley, Richard Durden as Cuthbert Binns, Louise Brealey as Rolanda Hooch, Bríd Brennan as Poppy Pomfrey, Leigh Gill as Griphook and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander.
