Fortune’s Weave players have plenty of companions to choose from, but Guzran has become a clear favourite. Known variously as the Guzlord and the Guzzler, he has even inspired comparisons to the Dagosian equivalent of Chuck Norris.
That popularity is not based on jokes alone. Guzran is both an effective fighter and an unusually likeable character, avoiding the common RPG companion problem of being either useful in battle or interesting to spend time with, but rarely both.
Why Guzran is so effective
His unique Hot-Headed ability adds 10 points to his chance to hit, land a critical strike or dodge an attack. It is a substantial advantage, and it suits his in-game reputation as the “Unkillable Guzran”.
Despite the intimidating reputation, Guzran is presented as a large, brown, gentle-hearted figure. He joins Cai as one of the boy’s default companions because Cai needed his assistance—and because beer helped bring him along.

The companion everyone is talking about
Community enthusiasm for Guzran is difficult to miss, with players singing his praise. Players have also been sharing their appreciation privately while progressing through their own parties.
That growing reputation made Guzran the obvious next recruit. Noctula had already proved valuable as a hard-hitting addition, while Sofia brought a regal personality and an impressive appetite. Guzran, however, sounded too effective—and too entertaining—to leave untested.
A recruitment setback
The recruitment attempt did not go smoothly. The required renown and support levels were both still one step short. The reason was an earlier story decision: choosing Theodora instead of Cai or Leda meant selecting the Lord with the highest requirements for recruiting Guzran.
There is at least a practical solution. A large stockpile of alcoholic gifts is already available, and Guzran appears to be the obvious recipient. The path to adding the “Unkillable Guzran” to the squad may be demanding, but the supplies for improving that relationship are ready to go.
