Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 6 marketing campaign has moved onto television, bringing a shortened commercial version of the latest launch trailer to Australian screens and international broadcasts. Fans have spotted several small edits between the TV cuts and the full trailer.

The changes are minor, but they reveal how the trailer has been adapted for different running times, platforms and advertising requirements. For more gaming coverage, visit the RETROCADE Arcade Blog.

GTA 6 now has two TV trailer versions

Two versions of the Grand Theft Auto 6 launch trailer are reportedly airing on NBC. One is a 30-second commercial that removes the intimate shower sequence involving Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. It also retains several scenes in extended form.

A longer 90-second cut keeps the shower scene and the extended moments, but removes the opening image carrying the message “play best on PS5”. The longer version therefore shows more of the trailer’s character and action material, while the shorter edit is built around a tighter broadcast slot.

Scenes extended for the television edits

The additional footage appears in a sequence after the shower scene. Each altered moment lasts roughly one to two seconds longer than in the standard trailer.

  • Raul dancing: Raul performs an extra half-spin.
  • The aeroplane sequence: The shot begins from farther away as Lucia tries to stay steady on top of the car.
  • Leaning against the car: After Jason playfully pushes her, Lucia bends fully forwards.

None of the extensions substantially changes what the trailer communicates. They are brief adjustments rather than new story reveals, but they give close viewers a few extra frames to examine.

Why the TV commercial has no Xbox logo

The broadcast commercial does not show an Xbox logo. That matches the original launch-trailer presentation, which also foregrounded PlayStation branding rather than displaying Xbox identification in the same way.

The reported explanation is a marketing arrangement between Sony and Rockstar. The television edit therefore avoids the Xbox branding seen in the complete version, while the longer commercial also drops the “play best on PS5” image.

For a version without overt Sony promotional material, viewers can download the trailer from Rockstar’s website. That version does not include the “play best on PS5” image and displays both the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 logos.

What the edits mean for players

These trailer changes do not indicate different game content. They are advertising edits designed for broadcast length, tone and platform promotion. The 30-second and 90-second versions simply prioritise different footage from the same launch trailer.

As interest in major releases continues to influence gaming culture, trailers remain part of the wider entertainment and arcade conversation. Readers planning a dedicated gaming setup can also explore RETROCADE’s arcade machine buying guide or browse the latest arcade machines.
