GTA 6 leak network loses key outlets

Several outlets linked to the latest Grand Theft Auto 6 leak wave have gone offline, suggesting that Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive are applying legal pressure to the people distributing the material.

Cyberleek’s website was reported offline on the morning of August 22. Its Telegram channel also became unavailable, displaying a copyright-infringement notice. Rockstar has not publicly commented on the takedowns, but the timing indicates that efforts to identify and disrupt the leak operation may be having an effect.

For readers following the wider arcade and gaming news landscape, the situation is a reminder that major game launches now involve a constant battle between official reveals and unauthorised footage.

What the recent footage showed

Cyberleek began publishing new GTA 6 footage on August 18. The clips did not appear to reveal major story spoilers or a dramatic new feature, but they did point to several details:

  • The return of the six-star Wanted system.
  • A look at the game’s large map.
  • Additional gameplay material from the upcoming release.

The leaks reportedly frustrated Rockstar developers. After the well-known 2024 leaks, the studio required staff to return to the office as a security measure. Despite that change, fresh GTA 6 material has surfaced again.

Take-Two pursues the source

Take-Two has subpoenaed Microsoft and Discord in an attempt to help identify the person or people sharing GTA 6 through Cyberleek. The operation has also been associated with cryptocurrency-related motives, adding another layer to the dispute.

The apparent result has been the removal of Cyberleek’s main website and Telegram channel. However, this has not stopped every leak. More footage continued to circulate on August 22, while other websites claiming links to Cyberleek have appeared.

That means the leak flow has slowed rather than ended. Rockstar and Take-Two still need to pursue replacement accounts and sites, but the disappearance of the operation’s most visible channels could mark the start of a broader shutdown.

Official gameplay reveal remains ahead

Despite the leaks, GTA 6 remains scheduled for release on November 19. The first official gameplay look is due during a special Netflix showcase on August 27.

Until then, fans are better served by treating unauthorised clips cautiously. An official presentation will provide a clearer picture of the game than fragmented footage reposted across rapidly changing channels.
