DeadStorm Pirates sequel reaches an American arcade
The sequel to DeadStorm Pirates was previously spotted during an early location test in Japan. That test suggested the project was still in development and might not launch until the following year, provided it passed the necessary testing. Its unexpected appearance in the United States indicates that the evaluation programme has moved ahead sooner than anticipated.
A reader found GoldStorm Pirates operating at Dave & Buster’s in Addison, Illinois, a venue that regularly hosts location tests. It is not known whether other American sites are also running the game or how long the current test will continue. The player reported seeing two levels and said they enjoyed the experience.
Changes for the Western test cabinet
Compared with the Japanese test unit, the American cabinet does not appear to use the side drapes. Yellow LED t-moulding has also been added along selected edges, helping the machine stand out more clearly in a Western arcade environment. Otherwise, the cabinet appears to retain the same game, motion features and other effects seen previously.

Hyper Cross also testing at Addison
GoldStorm Pirates is not the only new arcade title currently being tested at the Addison venue. Hyper Cross, developed by IGS and Baohui, is also available there. That game has previously appeared in tests in the western United States and at several European locations operated by, or associated with, Sega Amusements, making Sega Amusements a possible party behind the Addison test as well.
