Raw Thrills has released the complete Godzilla Kaiju Wars VR Ultimate update for existing arcade locations. The free package adds four chapters, expands the original missions and introduces performance improvements. The company has also begun shipping Top Gun: Maverick to North American operators who placed orders.
Godzilla Kaiju Wars VR receives its Ultimate update
When Godzilla Kaiju Wars VR was announced in 2023, Raw Thrills said the game would launch with two chapters before receiving three more chapters at no additional cost. Even before the complete package was finished, it had become one of the strongest-performing VR arcade releases to date.
Visitors to IAAPA 2024 and Amusement Expo 2025 could try the additional content, although those chapters were still unfinished at the time. The completed update is now available for operators with existing machines. For more arcade industry coverage, visit the RETROCADE Arcade Blog.
The new chapters
The Ultimate release adds these four levels:
- River Assault
- Tokyo Onslaught
- Gigan Attack
- Final Battle
The first two chapters have also been renamed Manda Mayhem and Megaguirus Invasion, with both receiving additional content. After each chapter, the two cabinet monitors now present the player scores, level achievements and multiplayer winners in a full-screen results display.

Raw Thrills has revised the scoring system to make multiplayer competition more intense, while also adding more monsters for players to defeat.
A final showdown unlocks after the campaign
Final Battle is a city-saving confrontation against every Kaiju. Players must stop Godzilla from taking the nuclear reactor and prevent the city’s total destruction. The chapter becomes available only after all five chapters have been completed, giving operators and players an incentive to work through the full game.
The level was previously described as extremely difficult, though its balance may have been adjusted since Amusement Expo International. The update also promises more robust headset and device handling, automatic calibration and smoother frame rates.
How locations can obtain the free kit
Operators should contact the distributor that supplied their machine and provide its serial number. The distributor can then arrange the kit at no cost. Raw Thrills’ media kit is available by clicking here.

Top Gun: Maverick begins shipping
Raw Thrills’ other major release, the non-VR Top Gun: Maverick, has started shipping to North American buyers who previously ordered the game. Shipments began at the end of May, and some locations have already reported receiving their machines.
Unlike the staged chapter rollout for Godzilla Kaiju Wars VR, Top Gun: Maverick is expected to ship with all six of its missions included.
These two releases give Raw Thrills a strong pair of arcade attractions heading into summer. Their performance on operator earnings charts will be worth watching.
