A limited-edition LEGO Pokémon giveaway has become a surprisingly valuable collector’s item, with sealed examples of the Kanto Region Badge Collection now changing hands for more than $150.
How the LEGO Pokémon badge set was released
The Kanto Region Badge Collection was not sold as a standalone product. LEGO offered it as a limited-time gift for customers who preordered the $650 set featuring Blastoise, Charizard and Venusaur.
Although the larger $650 set was still available when this information was published, the badge collection was no longer listed on the LEGO website. That limited distribution has helped turn a promotional extra into a sought-after piece of Pokémon merchandise.
What is included in the Kanto Region Badge Collection?
The kit contains 312 pieces and recreates all eight original Kanto Gym Badges:
- Boulder Badge
- Cascade Badge
- Thunder Badge
- Rainbow Badge
- Soul Badge
- Marsh Badge
- Volcano Badge
- Earth Badge
Once assembled, the badges can be displayed in the transparent case included with the build, or removed from the case for a closer look. The collection draws on the familiar Pokémon journey in which earning all eight badges allows a trainer to challenge the Elite Four.

Completed eBay sales have shown sealed sets consistently selling between $149 and $170. Those figures make the giveaway notably more valuable than its original price of zero, although resale values can change depending on condition, demand and availability.
Could the set become even more valuable?
Collectors who already claimed the promotion may want to keep their sets sealed. Analysts predict that the collection could reach $174 over the next year and approximately $220 within five years.
Those are forecasts rather than guarantees, so buyers should treat the badge collection as a collectible first and an investment second. Anyone considering a purchase should compare recent sold listings and check whether the box and contents remain complete.
