Fortnite Override turns Chapter 7 into a gaming crossover
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override is shaping up as an all-out celebration of video-game characters, worlds and gameplay ideas. Its first trailer confirms the season’s “Gaming Legends” theme, bringing together familiar faces from across the industry.
The trailer combines cinematic scenes with gameplay footage. Jonesy travels through an island filled with game-inspired locations and characters, including Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails, Dr Eggman, Joker from Persona 5, Mega Man, Scorpion, Raiden, Kitana and the deer from the viral Roblox experience 99 Nights in the Forest.

Key art shared by Epic Games adds even more names to the crossover line-up. The image includes Pac-Man, Blanka and Ryu from Street Fighter, Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher, Lara Croft from Tomb Raider, Master Chief from Halo, Rush from Mega Man and Sora from Kingdom Hearts. The artwork was released on X.
The name Geno also matters to Override’s story, although this character is an original Fortnite villain rather than the character from Super Mario RPG.
Classic game ideas enter the battle royale
Override is not limited to character appearances. During the trailer, Jonesy pursues a 1-Up coin and runs through a Green Hill Zone-inspired section of the island with Sonic-like speed. He also uses Mega Man’s Mega Blaster while avoiding Tetris blocks dropping from above.
The “Gaming Legends” focus had been widely anticipated within the Fortnite community. Character artwork featuring Crash Bandicoot and Spyro appeared ahead of the announcement, while a Sonic crossover comic was released early. Earlier teasers had already pointed towards Persona 5 and Pac-Man, and leaks mentioning Kingdom Hearts were also proven accurate.
Override launch date and the Disney island
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override begins on 20 August 2026. Before the new season arrives, Disney and Epic Games have added the Smuggler’s Gambit island.
The island draws from the Smuggler’s Run attraction at Galaxy’s Edge. Players can take on odd jobs for Hondo at Mersa Vera Station, providing a separate Disney-themed activity before Override begins.
