Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave recruitment guide

4

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave uses gifts, support, renown, negotiations and paralogues to expand your army. This spoiler-heavy guide explains recruitment, support growth, late-game allies and unit merging.

Recruitment is available only during Part 1. Requirements can change according to your Flame Lord: Cai, Dietrich, Leda or Theodora. Some characters are unavailable on particular routes, while characters recruited on one route remain available on another.

How recruitment works

Give a character a gift first to unlock the Recruit dialogue. You must then satisfy the required support and renown levels for your current Flame Lord. Some recruits also require a negotiation, a request, a specific item or a paralogue.

Paralogues begin appearing in Chapter 10 and remain available for a limited time. Characters who appear unavailable can sometimes join during Part 3 if you complete their Part 1 paralogue. Those recruits can fight, but may not appear in story-focused scenes.

The paralogue-linked characters include Anatolia, Bertrand, Cai, Dietrich, Leda, Orchel, Talimun and Theodora. Completing each Flame Lord’s paralogue is the quickest way to gain access without completing every route.

How to raise support

Renown rises through campaign progress and side quests. Support improves through the following activities:

  • Link attacks
  • Support actions and combat buffs
  • Training together
  • Gifts
  • Meals
  • Temple services
  • Watching a theatre performance
  • Using the thermea

For meals, temple services, theatre visits and the thermea, select the Flame Lord whose route you are playing if you want to meet that character’s recruitment requirement.

How to merge characters

After completing Part 3, Section 1 of the Salvation Arc, visit the Obelisk Chamber and interact with the Shrine of Causality. Select Merge Causality, choose a unit marked with the yellow double-arrow and pay 300 karma shards.

When the same character has been recruited on multiple routes, choose the version you want to use in Part 3. Merging transfers the best stats and skill levels from the other version. For example, a Sofia trained to ride horses on Leda’s route can transfer that riding progress to a Sofia from Theodora’s route.
