Nintendo has released the Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Expansion Pass, with new content planned across three waves. The first wave is available now, while the later additions expand the game’s equipment, character roster and story.

Wave 1 adds four legendary relics

The opening update is modest, but it should appeal to Three Houses fans. Four legendary hero’s relics have been added: the Areadbhar spear, the Aymr axe, the Failnaught bow and the Sword of the Creator.

Seteth is the only character who appears in both Fortune’s Weave and Three Houses, so there is room for an amusing reference to the weapons’ previous users. Whether that happens remains unknown.

Wave 2 brings new outfits and divine allies

Wave 2 is currently scheduled for the holiday period in 2026. It will introduce new outfits that the Flame Lords and their companions can wear. The trailer highlights Father Fabio in an unusually daring look for a man of the cloth.

More significantly, several of the game’s gods will join the fight to save the world. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave treats its gods as real figures who walk among ordinary people, making their direct involvement a notable development.

Fortune’s Weave includes a system in which devotion can grant the player a portion of divine power. The addition of divine combat companions therefore addresses a noticeable story question: if the gods’ world is threatened by one of its own, why should ordinary mortals be left to handle the crisis alone?

The three new companions are Smyrnos, Jurah and Aurora. Their arrival is also expected to have major implications for one of the Flame Lords, although those details remain best experienced without spoilers.

Wave 3 fills in four missing character stories

The third wave appears to be the largest announced update. It has a broad 2027 release window and will add stories for Anatolia, Talimunn, Bertand and Orchel—the four major characters who are not Flame Lords.

Before launch, Intelligent Systems revealed that the game had originally been planned around eight main characters. That earlier design can still be glimpsed in the opening sequence: when Eshmel approaches a huge temple, he passes eight statues. Four are identified as the Flame Lords of Dagda, while the remaining four appear to point towards a larger role for the other characters.

The new material may draw from routes that were originally intended for Anatolia, Talimunn, Bertand and Orchel. For players interested in how games preserve cut or reshaped ideas, the expansion could offer an intriguing look at Fortune’s Weave’s development.

A substantial expansion for an already large game

Additional story content is welcome, particularly for Anatolia and Talimunn, but Fortune’s Weave is already a sizeable adventure. Players who have not finished their first route may find the prospect of even more content daunting.

The Expansion Pass costs $35, taking the combined price of Fortune’s Weave and its extra content above $100. That makes the full package a significant investment for Australian players, even with three waves of additions planned.
