Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave gift guide for every character

4

Giving the right present in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is one of the quickest ways to improve support with recruitable allies. A character’s favourite item can provide a support increase comparable to sharing a beloved meal, although some preferences are far less obvious than others.

This guide covers gift categories, shops, reactions and recommended presents for every character. For more gaming and arcade news, visit the RETROCADE Arcade Blog.

How gifts work

Gift giving is available once per week for each character. Shops across Dagda stock presents, while Dagsion’s shopping arcade has a vendor and its lowtown tavern sells drinks, coffee and Cervi. Dagsion’s shops refresh and expand their stock when a new chapter begins.

Items are grouped into fashion, beauty, flowers, cooking, fermented drinks, beverages, coffee, training, weapons, military, horses, books, board games, vegetables, crafting, fishing and archery. Smaller categories include agriculture, travel and spicy foods. Check an item’s description before giving it away.

Common gifts have dark blue-green icons. Uncommon gifts use a lighter icon with a symbol in the lower-right corner, while rare gifts are lighter again and display a sparkle in the upper-left. Some characters prefer uncommon or rare gifts regardless of category.

  • Sweets: Regia sells Honey Pastries, Orens has Fragrant Pastries and Megaira offers unlimited Saraminian Sweets after it becomes available. Jester and Loretta do not like Saraminian Sweets.

Understanding gift reactions

After a present is delivered, the game shows the support increase and one of five responses:

  • They don’t like it: no support gain.
  • They kind of like it: small gain.
  • They liked it: moderate gain.
  • They really liked it: large gain.
  • They really liked it, with two yellow arrows: double points for a favourite item.

Category preferences usually apply to every item in that group, but exceptions exist. Nydine, for example, loves horse-grooming kits but not mane ornaments because she cares for orniuses, which have no manes. Every character has at least one favourite, although rare and expensive items make them difficult to identify. High-end presents can outperform ordinary category matches, and some characters favour rarity over type.

You do not need to discover every favourite to recruit allies. Strong reactions, meals at the inn and regular support activities are sufficient. If money or a scarce training item is tight, an acceptable present is still worthwhile. The Boon of Salvation gift discount is also worth activating early.

Plan your weekly gifts

Gift stock, character preferences and prices make planning worthwhile. Prioritise allies you want to recruit, buy scarce items when they appear and use meals at the inn to support everyone else. There is enough time to build relationships before the end of Act 1, so a tolerated gift is better than wasting a week.

For players who enjoy having a dedicated gaming setup, RETROCADE also has an Arcade Machine Buying Guide and a range of arcade machines.
