Finding Polka is a gentle Windows PC adventure about searching for a missing French Bulldog. Developed by Lidlocks, the roughly three-hour exploration game combines hand-drawn scenes, hidden details and plenty of oddball humour.

Its central idea is simple: Frendy is walking her Dachshund, Jazz, when she believes she spots Polka, her French Bulldog from childhood. What follows is a chase across more than two dozen increasingly surreal levels, with a trail of puddles and dog mess leading the way.

A hand-drawn search full of surprises

The game has the broad appeal of a hidden-object book, but its worlds are interactive and full of movement. Every illustrated level rewards players who pause to investigate rather than hurrying after Polka.

A farm, for example, contains what appears to be a pig the size of a person. Look more closely and the strange creature turns out to be an alien in a pig disguise. Elsewhere, a gym enthusiast practises a Kamehameha pose, while a musical group performs with every member dressed as Elvis.

That detail-driven design is the real draw. The story gives you a reason to keep moving, but the funniest moments are usually found away from the main path. It is worth examining the background characters and stopping to see what each scene is hiding.

Optional activities and curious characters

Exploration is supported by a collection of uncomplicated optional diversions. Players can deliver objects for characters in exchange for a high five, locate concealed ninjas and take part in activities including a soccer shootout and a short volleyball game.

One errand involves finding a staff for a character who is revealed to be Sun Wukong. Once reunited with it, he boards his flying cloud and occasionally sweeps across the sky above the level.

Finding a girl and her enormous panda companion unlocks Polaroid images of a real dog. The animal appears to be the real-world inspiration for Polka, although the source material does not identify it by name. These small rewards add another reason to explore every corner.

A playful story with a melancholy edge

Underneath the monochrome sketches and comic encounters, Frendy’s search carries an emotional suggestion. She is no longer a child, yet she is pursuing the dog that belonged to her childhood. The game does not aim for the same devastating effect as Neva, but its conclusion is suitably bittersweet.

For players who enjoy relaxed discovery, Finding Polka offers a compact adventure built around observation rather than challenge. Its carefully drawn pages are crowded with inventive characters, visual jokes and good dogs, making it a natural fit for a quiet session on RETROCADE’s arcade and gaming news feed.
