Final Fantasy VII Revelation is expected to be an enormous game in both scope and installation size. Its open-world design is set to bring the remake trilogy’s version of the entire planet into one adventure, while the finished game may require roughly 200GB of storage.

Director Naoki Hamaguchi provided that estimate in an interview with VGC, while stressing that development decisions were still being finalised:

“Things are still getting worked out, but it’s probably going to be around 200GB of game.”

That would make the storage requirement substantial even by the standards of current big-budget releases. Players buying a physical copy are also expected to need an additional download, reflecting how much data the game contains. Hamaguchi acknowledged that the size will attract criticism, but said the team needs to push beyond existing hardware limitations to deliver the project.

The piano minigame is being expanded

Hamaguchi also identified one feature that is growing significantly: the piano minigame. The activity appeared in the original Final Fantasy VII outside Tifa’s room during the second disc. Players who successfully performed the required tune could receive Tifa’s ultimate limit break, Final Heaven.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth reworked the idea into a more detailed musical activity, closer to the instrument sequences in The Last of Us. Its rewards, however, were largely limited to materia that could be obtained elsewhere. For Revelation, both the activity and its benefits are being upgraded.

Hamaguchi said the new version will include information connected to Tifa, allowing players to learn more about her by completing the piano game. Fans can also listen to the Final Fantasy VII Main Theme while considering the series’ long-running musical legacy.

A huge game with a huge installation

The reported 200GB figure combines the scale of the open world with the remake project’s expanding collection of story content, activities and character details. It is not yet a final confirmed size, but it is already a useful warning for players planning their storage.

The bigger question for Final Fantasy VII Revelation is whether its expanded world, piano feature and additional Tifa material will justify such a demanding installation.
