Final Fantasy 7 Revelation has added another Critical Role performer to its voice cast. Square Enix confirmed at New York Comic Con that Marisha Ray will play a new version of Shiva in the third and final entry of the remake trilogy.

Ray joins fellow Critical Role cast members Matt Mercer and Travis Willingham. Mercer voices Vincent Valentine, while Willingham has taken over the role of Sephiroth from Tyler Hoechlin.

A clip posted on Instagram gives fans an early look at Ray’s performance. Her character is Polydroid Shiva, a digitised, non-combat version of the familiar ice summon.

Polydroid Shiva appears to oversee the Gold Saucer’s snowboarding mini-game. That confirms the popular activity from the original 1997 release will return as a playable feature in Revelation.
In the footage, Shiva encourages Vincent to demonstrate his snowboarding ability. Ray and Mercer are married, and their natural rapport is evident in the exchange.
During the panel, Mercer said he initially wondered whether Ray had been hired because of their relationship. The development team, however, told him they had not known she was his wife. Mercer then called out to Ray, who was sitting in the front row: “That’s right, you earned that, baby.” More panel details are revealed here.

The New York Comic Con presentation also focused on the cast’s experience completing the trilogy. A second Square Enix clip shows the final recording sessions, including emotional reactions from Briana White and Britt Baron, the performers behind Aerith and Tifa.
Baron described the part as “the role of a lifetime”, while both actors became visibly tearful during the discussion.
Square Enix has continued to keep the trilogy’s ending under wraps after changing elements of the original game’s story. Potential final twists remain secret, but the conclusion is expected to carry significant emotional weight for returning players.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is scheduled for release on 8 April 2027.
