Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is heading to Gamescom Opening Night Live
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will receive another detailed preview before August ends, with its next appearance confirmed for Gamescom Opening Night Live on 25 August 2026.

The annual showcase takes place immediately before Gamescom, the major European video game industry expo. Produced by the team behind Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards, the event typically combines new announcements with updates on previously revealed games.

Last year’s presentation featured Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. This year, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is set to be one of the event’s major highlights.

What could be shown?
Square Enix has confirmed that game director Naoki Hamaguchi will attend in person and present the game. The publisher has not yet stated which material will be included in the segment.

There is still plenty for the development team to reveal after the game’s announcement at Summer Game Fest in June. A first look at Cloud and the other returning characters’ journey back to Midgar would be significant, while a release date would answer one of the biggest remaining questions.

A busy Gamescom showcase
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is one of several confirmed appearances. The event will also feature Songs of the Past, an expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, alongside Metro 2039, Silent Hill: Townfall, Aion 2, Cinder City and Project Bonfire.
More announcements and teases may arrive before the broadcast, but the current line-up already points to a substantial presentation. RETROCADE readers can follow further arcade and gaming news as the showcase approaches, or browse arcade videos for more games-industry coverage.

When to watch in Australia
Gamescom Opening Night Live is scheduled to begin at 2pm ET on 25 August. The organisers have not confirmed the precise point at which Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will appear during the live event.
