exA-Arcadia has shared new information on two fighting games: pre-orders are opening for Vanguard Princess R, while a substantial content update for Axel City 2: The Final Storm has entered location testing.
Vanguard Princess R pre-orders open
First revealed at EVO in April 2024, Vanguard Princess R is a remastered version of the 2009 doujin fighting game. The project previously faced some controversy surrounding the rights to it, but exA-Arcadia has addressed the matter. The copyright notice is available at the game page.
Developed with FK Digital, the updated release revises the game system and adds full English localisation, built-in moveset cards and a training mode. exA-Arcadia also specifies a 0.3-frame input-lag response. Test mode includes a “100% accurate version” of the 2009 original, while the game can also be configured for portrait, or TATE, play.
An early build was available at IAAPA 2024, where it appeared to run smoothly, although a direct comparison with the original was not possible at the time. Axel City 2: The Final Storm enters testing
Axel City 2 has built a reputation as a strong performer among 2D fighters on exA-Arcadia, reportedly exceeding expectations in some locations. That performance appears to have helped support a major content update for the platform-exclusive title.
The update expands the roster to 50 characters and adds further voice acting, stories for all newly added characters and additional backgrounds. These changes position it as the most complete version of the game so far.
Axel City 2: The Final Storm is currently being tested at two Japanese locations: one in Tokyo and one in Osaka. An exA-Arcadia location test generally indicates that a release may follow relatively soon, although testing can still lead to delays, revisions or cancellation. Once pre-orders are announced, further details will be available.
These projects add two more fighters to the platform’s upcoming line-up, while other anticipated titles remain in development. exA-Arcadia is not listed for a booth at IAAPA Expo Europe the following week, but it is shown on the floor plan for IAAPA in Orlando in November, where more hands-on information may emerge.
