exA-Arcadia has revealed G.I. Joe: The Wrath of Cobra at Amusement Expo 2026, completing its third and final new-game announcement from the opening day. Alongside AVATAR Legends: The Fighting Game, it is the second new arcade title based on the classic G.I. Joe licence, following JET Games’ interpretation. That game was not present at the event, making exA-Arcadia’s title the show’s sole G.I. Joe representation.
G.I. Joe: The Wrath of Cobra
This arcade release is a comprehensive reworking of Wrath of Cobra, the 2024 beat ’em up released for home platforms. After the company behind that version went bankrupt, exA-Arcadia continued the project and rebuilt it with a new gameplay system, enhanced visuals, entirely new voice work and redesigned stages.
The revised roster adds Shipwreck and Lady Jaye, bringing the total to eight playable characters. Familiar figures including Duke and Snake Eyes are also part of the line-up.
Tekken artist Junny created the character illustrations. Every Joe and Cobra character has full voice acting, with exA-Arcadia seeking performers who sound as close as possible to the original voices. Many of those original actors have sadly passed away.
The attract mode will also feature the complete opening sequence from the G.I. Joe cartoon, presented from a 4K remaster.
Although the game supports up to four players, it is designed to work properly on a two-player cabinet. That flexibility may suit operators and home users comparing arcade machine options for different spaces.
A substantial arcade-focused rebuild
The scale of the changes recalls exA-Arcadia’s work on Jitsu Squad: Feat. The Samurai Pizza Cats. That project was altered so extensively that it approached sequel territory, while also delivering a stronger experience than the console release.
