Asuka 120% Burning Fest EXALLENT is now shipping for the exA-Arcadia platform, making it a strong contender for the final new arcade release of 2025. Unless another title begins shipping before 31 December, it will close out the year for the platform.

The game reportedly performed exceptionally well during testing in Japan and has attracted attention on Twitter/X. For Australian arcade operators and collectors, the worldwide release is also notable because the game can run on any existing exA system.

Asuka 120% Burning Fest EXALLENT brings the series back

The new release was announced at EVO Japan 2024 as part of exA-Arcadia’s fighting-game line-up. The series began in 1994 for the Sharp X68000 & FM Towns, while many Western players encountered it through the releases on the Sega Saturn. The Excellent and Final PlayStation releases are generally regarded less favourably by dedicated Asuka fans.

Rather than being a straightforward port, EXALLENT was developed from scratch. It draws on the popular Limit Over and Special Version 2 editions while adding a range of new features and improvements. The game was playable at IAAPA 2024, followed by a near-final build at IAAPA 2025 in November.

What makes EXALLENT different?

EXALLENT is designed as a comprehensive version of the series, combining content from previous releases with new presentation and gameplay work.

  • Complete English localisation, including the game’s lore
  • Every character from the different editions is playable
  • Five selectable soundtracks
  • Movesets from Limit Over and Final, plus new standard and special moves
  • Newly drawn graphics and animated backgrounds
  • Very low input lag
  • TATE support for vertical monitors

Five soundtrack options

The soundtrack selection covers the new EXALLENT score, earlier versions and two arranged collections:

  • EXALLENT – a new soundtrack by Keishi Yonao
  • LIMITED – the Saturn soundtrack
  • FINAL – music from the last PlayStation instalment
  • BURNING REMIXES Side A – an arranged soundtrack featuring guest composers Shinji Hosoe, Raito and others
  • BURNING REMIXES Side B – an arranged soundtrack produced by Super Sweep Records

Three Asuka 120% game kits

Japan received the initial launch because it has the series’ strongest fanbase, but EXALLENT is shipping worldwide. It can also be made available for any exA system. The official trailer is below.

For this launch, exA has introduced three different kit options:

Standard kit

The Standard package includes an A1-sized poster, moveset artwork, two smaller posters, marquee artwork and the game cartridge.

Limited Edition kit

The Limited Edition includes all Standard contents, along with an exA button and ball-top kit plus banner posters for all fourteen characters.

The game was not listed on the exA store when the initial announcement was published, but it is now.

For Australian venues considering dedicated hardware, the Arcade Machine Buying Guide may help with cabinet, monitor and space planning. Readers working on an existing setup can also browse arcade parts or arrange arcade repairs and maintenance.
