How to Make Goo in Enshrouded
Goo is an important crafting material in Enshrouded. You need it for several useful items, and 15 pieces are required to strengthen the Flame to level 4, giving you more attributes and additional time in the Shroud.
Before goo becomes available, you must unlock the Alchemist, complete his mortar quest and gather the ingredients needed for the recipe.

Unlocking the Goo Recipe
First, unlock Balthazar the Alchemist. His Ancient Vault is northwest of the Cinder Vault and directly west of the Ancient Spire in the Springlands. Once you have found him, return to your base and use the Summoning Staff to bring Balthazar to your settlement.
Continue Balthazar’s questline until you complete The Alchemist’s Mortar. Building the mortar lets you craft bug dust, which is the step that unlocks the goo recipe.

Collecting Bug Dust
Each piece of bug dust requires one critter part. Blue beetles found in the Shroud drop these parts, so hunt them while exploring Shroud-covered areas.
After crafting bug dust for the first time, the goo recipe becomes available at the Alchemist.

Goo Crafting Recipe
Once the recipe is unlocked, use the Alchemist’s crafting station and combine:
- 1 Springlands dirt
- 2 Shroud mushrooms
- 1 bug dust
Where to Find the Ingredients
Springlands dirt is easy to collect: equip a pickaxe and mine the ground anywhere in the Springlands, the game’s starting region.
For Shroud mushrooms, travel to Revelwood and chop down the enormous mushrooms growing throughout the region. The resulting materials can then be combined with Springlands dirt and bug dust at the Alchemist.
Goo is also used to make Adventurer’s Trousers, the Healing Tunic and several spells, so collecting extra ingredients can save another trip into the Shroud.
