Spoiler warning: This guide covers the full “Echoes of Silenced Bells” quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker, including its routes, choices and boss encounter.

“Echoes of Silenced Bells” becomes available after the prologue quest, “Smoke and Ashes”, provided Anca is still alive. Before speaking with her at night, make sure your blood level is high enough; otherwise, you may kill her by accident.
Meet Anca at the Crossroads Inn on the eastern side of the map. Tell her you are ready to travel to the convent, which takes one turn. Your main objectives are:
- Find a way into the library using St. Tyna’s relic or the bell tower signals.
- Explore the catacombs with Anca.
- Choose whether Anca should attempt to save the nuns.
The quest rewards careful exploration rather than rushing. Players used to mapping routes through an gaming and arcade blog will find the objective structure familiar, but the convent’s stealth sections are considerably less forgiving.
Reach the convent library
After entering the convent and escaping the first group of nuns, meet Anca upstairs and begin investigating. Interact with the leftmost point of interest and both rightmost points of interest. This unlocks objectives at the infirmary, chapel and bell tower.

The library is blocked by several dozen zombie nuns. There are two ways through: recover St. Tyna’s relic and negotiate with Brencis’ soldiers, or learn the bell tower signals and redirect the nuns. You can complete both routes before committing to one, although starting with the relic is recommended if you want to pursue both.
Find St. Tyna’s relic
From the balcony, move left and drop down across the shelters. Keep close to the wall while travelling towards the infirmary to avoid detection. Activate focus mode and look for the window on the infirmary’s left side, beneath the stairs.
The window leads to several of Brencis’ soldiers. They offer to open the library door if you bring them St. Tyna’s relic. Accepting starts the “Most Precious Thing” sub-quest.

Return to the balcony, then drop down on the right. Sneak through the gallery and head towards the church wall. Turn left to reach the main entrance, or continue north-west to investigate the area beyond the courtyard.

The relic is inside one of the north-west buildings. For the complete investigation, which takes two turns, enter the church first. Pick up the prayerbook and rosary, then use them to compel the nun’s corpse and obtain the clue. You can also inspect St. Tyna’s corpse in the damaged display and examine the paintings.
Leave through the church’s main door and turn right. The compelled nun reveals that the relic is in the sacristy. Enter the small shed west of the church while avoiding the nearby nun, then examine the corpse inside to obtain the sacristy key.

Once you have the relic, choose how to deal with the soldiers:
- Hand over the relic: The soldiers give you the infirmary key, but you lose St. Tyna’s relic.
- Say “I changed my mind”: The soldiers attack. Defeat them and loot their bodies for the infirmary key, then tell Anca you have cleared the path. You keep the relic, which can be sold or equipped to strengthen your witchcraft.

Use the bell tower signals
From the balcony, drop to the right and cross the gallery without alerting the nuns. Go left around the courtyard and enter the westernmost building. Inside, collect Campana Loquitur, the book that explains the church bells. Without it, the signals cannot be used.

Reach the bell tower by walking across the roofs at night and entering through the gap in the wall. During the day, enter the small shed west of the church, collect the keys and use them to unlock the bell tower door.
At the top, pull the rope for the church, dormitory or infirmary signal. Each option produces a different result:
- Dormitory: The nuns move to the opposite side of the courtyard but continue blocking the library.
- Church: The nuns gather inside the church, leaving the library accessible.
- Infirmary: The nuns break into the infirmary and kill the soldiers.
If you use the infirmary signal, follow it with the church signal to clear the route. You can still collect St. Tyna’s relic before entering the library. The quest ends in a boss battle, so waiting until night allows you to benefit from your vampire powers.

Search the catacombs
After opening the way to the library, return to Anca and confirm that you are ready to continue. At the end of the library investigation, move the bookcase to uncover a tunnel into the catacombs.

Follow the passage and watch for zombie nuns that appear along the route. At the end, you must defeat Leonica.
How to defeat Leonica
Leonica frequently chains unblockable attacks, so prioritise dodging rather than attempting to block every strike. Her bat attack is particularly dangerous: the bats curve towards you, so delay your dodge instead of rolling as soon as they appear.
She also summons several minions during the fight. Voracious Bite works on Leonica, allowing you to drain her blood and restore health, although it does not work on the summoned enemies. Defeating those minions is still worthwhile because they help restore action points.

Should you destroy the notes?
After the battle, Anca says she wants to undo the curse. You must decide whether to burn the notes or give them to her.
- Burn the notes: The nuns remain at the convent.
- Give the notes to Anca: The nuns vanish from the convent and appear to be freed, although Anca’s comments imply that they may not be gone completely. This choice takes one turn.
Either decision lets you return to the Crossroads Inn with Anca immediately or promise to visit her later. “Echoes of Silenced Bells” then concludes and “Between the Words” begins.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is a time-sensitive narrative RPG in which decisions have lasting consequences. After the prologue, you can explore Vale Sangora and confront Brencis’ boyars in the order you choose, although the open-ended structure can feel overwhelming.
