Spoiler warning: This guide covers the optional “Disturbed” quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker, including its major choices and outcomes.
During the prologue quest “Withering Away”, Crina can be found near the graveyard outside the church. Someone has disturbed her grandson Kvet’s grave, and she wants the stolen cross recovered. The investigation leads to several decisions involving Kostel, Vladimir and Crina.
For readers who enjoy following game guides alongside their arcade projects, RETROCADE also covers the wider arcade and gaming scene.
How to start “Disturbed”

Leave Coen’s house during “Withering Away” and head towards the church. Crina is waiting in the graveyard just outside the church walls. Speak with her to begin the quest, then inspect Kvet’s damaged grave.
The investigation requires Coen’s focus mode. Follow the footprints from the graveyard down into the village. They lead through a narrow gap between two buildings before disappearing.

How to find the grave robber

Once the footprints end, search the area for another clue. Cross to the far side of the crops, where you will find a recently used shovel on the ground. Interact with it to learn that Kostel’s shed is the next place to investigate.

Kostel’s shed stands beside the shovel. Enter and look on the ground to the left of the doorway for the next interaction prompt. Activating it advances time by one segment and triggers a cutscene.

Should you say you are looking for a grave robber?

Kostel catches you searching the shed, beginning the first dialogue choice. You can say either:
- “Looking for a grave robber.”
- “Sorry. Lost my way.”
Whichever response you choose, the conversation ends in a fistfight. The choice does not change that outcome, so select the answer that best suits your Coen.
Should you drink with Vladimir?

After the fight, you meet Vladimir and can respond to his toast in one of two ways:
- “To Kvet.”
- “Not in the mood.”
Refusing the drink has no lasting consequence, although Vladimir remarks that you are “just like your old man”. If you accept and have not yet finished “Withering Away”, Pieter will smell the alcohol on your breath and reprimand you. That exchange is the only lasting effect.
Should you keep Vladimir’s secret or recover Kvet’s cross?

Vladimir eventually reveals that he was responsible for robbing the grave. You must then decide whether to protect him or request the missing cross:
- “I’ll keep this between us.”
- “Give Kvet’s cross back.”
Keeping the secret means Vladimir retains the cross, so you cannot return it to Crina. Asking for the cross back does not create hard feelings with Vladimir, and still leaves you free to hide his identity from Crina. If you want the widest range of later choices, request the cross.
Should you tell Crina who disturbed the grave?

This choice is available only if you recovered Kvet’s cross. You can explain that you found it in the bushes or tell Crina that Vladimir took it.
- “I found it lying in the bushes.”
- “It was Vladimir.”
If you blame the bushes, Crina is puzzled that somebody would desecrate a grave and then abandon a valuable item, but she accepts the explanation.
If you identify Vladimir, Crina is shocked because she considers him a nice young man. Coen explains that Vladimir wanted the silver because it is valuable. Crina says she will give him a piece of her mind, but the decision does not appear to produce any further negative effect for Vladimir.
Should you help Crina rebury Kvet?

The final decision is offered regardless of the earlier answers:
- “Of course.”
- “I really need to go.”
Agreeing to help advances time by one hour segment while Coen assists Crina. Refusing makes Crina say she will ask somebody else, but Kvet’s grave remains disturbed for the rest of the game.
Both choices award 250 XP and 25 denarius.
Best outcome for “Disturbed”
For the most flexible resolution, ask Vladimir to return the cross, then tell Crina that you found it in the bushes. This lets you recover the item without exposing Vladimir. Helping Crina rebury Kvet completes the quest with the same reward as refusing, but advances the clock by one segment.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is a time-sensitive, narrative RPG in which actions and decisions matter. The quest takes place during the prologue; afterwards, you can explore Vale Sangora and confront Brencis’ boyars as you choose.
