Adrenaline Amusements used Amusement Expo 2026 to reveal Disney Speedstorm Arcade, a surprise addition to its line-up. The company is known for presenting unannounced projects at trade shows, and this new racer was no exception.
From home platforms to the arcade
Disney Speedstorm began as a Gameloft production, developed by the company’s Spanish studio. The game launched for major consoles and PC in 2023, followed by a mobile release a few months into the following year. Ongoing content updates have continued since then, while commentators have often described it as Disney’s answer to Mario Kart.
Adrenaline’s arcade conversion gives the property another platform and follows the company’s earlier Disney-themed Disney Crossy Road videmption game.
What Disney Speedstorm Arcade adds
The footage shown at the expo featured a prototype, so the production cabinet will differ in some respects. The most significant changes are expected around the seat, while the card dispenser and reader shown on the test units were also positioned awkwardly.
Cards are central to progression in this arcade version. At the start, players can select Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck, while other racers require a card to scan. Cards can also unlock alternate character costumes.
The dispenser does not issue a card after every race. Players can obtain one by adding more credits or by completing one of the game’s three race cups; winning is not required.

It was not confirmed whether cards will be mandatory for operation. However, the prototype machines ran without vending cards and displayed no error messages, suggesting they may not be essential to play.
Fast, colourful multiplayer racing
The arcade game includes a selection of characters and tracks, with gameplay sitting somewhere between Cruis’n Blast and Mario Kart. Its tall display also recalls the presentation of Storm Racer 2.
Races feature collectible power-ups for attacking opponents, breakable scenery that does not reduce speed and sections where the player can drive along rails. As many as four cabinets can be linked for multiplayer, making it a natural fit for racing arcade collections and busy family entertainment venues.
A new contest for kart racers
The arrival of Disney Speedstorm Arcade alongside Nickelodeon Kart Racers Arcade points to renewed interest in licensed kart racers with broad family appeal.
Mario Kart Arcade GP DX remains successful and continues to be produced, but supply timing can be challenging. At the expo, operators were told that a new order placed then might not arrive until February 2027, with previous buyers also experiencing waits ranging from several months to longer.
Pricing will be important. With its motion base and large vertical screen, Disney Speedstorm Arcade could compete strongly for the same audience as Mario Kart Arcade GP DX. Disney’s appeal extends beyond children, while the sizeable display should attract attention in a crowded venue. A smaller-screen version could nevertheless be useful, particularly where the cabinet needs to suit younger players or tighter floors.
Nickelodeon Kart Racers Arcade has an alternative position with its smaller sit-down cabinet and lower reported cost, described at the show as close to $10,000. UNIS’s Monster Kart has also continued selling and has reportedly performed successfully.
Release timing
Adrenaline said shipping is expected to begin in May or June. A final cabinet image was also expected to become available before long. Operators assessing a new driving game can compare cabinet formats with RETROCADE’s arcade machine buying guide and browse the wider arcade machine range.
