Diablo: Unbound brings dungeon crawling to the tabletop
Blizzard Entertainment and Glass Cannon Unplugged have announced Diablo: Unbound, a new cooperative board game planned for launch in 2027. The reveal took place at Spiel Essen, the world’s largest board game event, shortly after the surprise announcement of Diablo 5 at BlizzCon 2026.

Designed as a replayable “dungeon battler”, the game adapts the hack-and-slash structure of the video-game series for one to four players. Players will fight through dungeons, battle evil and collect increasingly powerful equipment as they work together.
Glass Cannon Unplugged describes the experience as a mix of boss battles and relentless monster encounters. Rather than simply exploring a dungeon, players battle their way down through escalating challenges.
Classes, dice and deck-building
Diablo: Unbound combines deck-building with dice-rolling mechanics and draws from the wider history of the franchise. The initial playable roster includes four familiar classes: Barbarian, Rogue, Sorceress and Paladin.
Each class has its own abilities, skill tree and progression path. Glass Cannon Unplugged also says that further classes may be introduced through campaign stretch goals and later expansions.

Three acts, changing loot and a Torment endgame
The campaign is divided into three acts, with each act containing three dungeon levels. A powerful boss awaits at the end of every level. Randomised loot gives players a reason to take risks, with more dangerous choices offering the possibility of greater rewards.
Between expeditions, the Town Phase provides an opportunity to improve skills, organise equipment and respec characters. An individual dungeon is expected to take approximately 60 to 90 minutes, while completing a full act should require roughly three to four hours.
After the main acts, the Torment mode allows players to challenge any boss, regardless of its tier. These encounters are presented in their ultimate forms and are balanced for an endgame party.

Campaign plans and developer background
Diablo: Unbound is currently in pre-launch on Gamefound. More details are expected over the coming months, with the full crowdfunding campaign scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
Glass Cannon Unplugged has previously created tabletop adaptations of established video-game properties, including Frostpunk: The Board Game, Apex Legends: The Board Game, Dying Light: The Board Game and Don’t Starve: The Board Game.
