Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed a new Diablo animated series for Netflix, expanding the demon-slaying game franchise into streaming entertainment.
The announcement came during the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2026, where Blizzard president Johanna Faries revealed the partnership. The series will be set in the world of Diablo, although Blizzard and Netflix have not announced its release date, story details, cast or creative team.
Diablo is only the beginning
Faries also indicated that Blizzard is considering further screen adaptations. She mentioned Overwatch and Warcraft as franchises being explored, but stressed that it was too early to confirm their partners, formats or production details.
For fans following the wider arcade and gaming news landscape, the announcement continues a long-running push to bring major game universes beyond their original platforms.
A project with a long development history
This is not the first time a Diablo animated project has been discussed. More than six years ago, former Activision Blizzard Studios president and chief operating officer Nick van Dyk said that shows based on Diablo and Overwatch were in development.
Blizzard also recently used animation to promote Diablo 4. Earlier in 2026, the band Korn released a music video featuring Diablo 4-themed animation as part of promotion for Blizzard’s Lord of Hatred expansion.
