Blizzard has offered an early glimpse of Diablo 5, although the next chapter in the dark action-RPG series remains several years away. Its planned release window is spring 2029, and Diablo himself will return.
Diablo 5 moves into a ruined Sanctuary
The teaser presented a brief look at the game’s infernal setting. The story takes place 100 years after Diablo 4, with Sanctuary having fallen and the player fighting through what is effectively a post-apocalyptic world.

Diablo 4 adds the Amazon class
While the new sequel is still distant, Diablo 4 will receive additional content. A class pack planned for the first half of 2027 will introduce the Amazon, a character recently highlighted in the Lord of Hatred expansion.
The Amazon specialises in rapid movement and ranged combat, using a bow alongside a new javelin weapon.
Hell’s Legacy revisits Diablo history
The game’s next season is titled Hell’s Legacy and is designed as a celebration of the franchise’s past. It begins on Tuesday, September 15, bringing back classic enemies and other familiar elements from earlier Diablo games.
Returning characters and villains include Deckard Cain, Mephisto and Diablo.
Diablo: Age of Hatred heads to Nintendo Switch 2
Blizzard has also confirmed that the Diablo: Age of Hatred collection will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 15 alongside the Season of Hell’s Legacy. The package includes Diablo 4 and both expansions.
