Firehouse 51 is losing another familiar face as Chicago Fire continues to reshape its ensemble. Dermot Mulroney has officially left the series after playing Battalion Chief Dom Pascal.

Dom Pascal’s Chicago Fire departure

Pascal’s final appearance came in “New Blood”, the Season 15 premiere that aired on Wednesday, October 7. Mulroney first joined the drama in Season 13, becoming part of the wider One Chicago franchise that has been a regular feature of NBC’s schedule since 2012 alongside Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med.

The character’s exit follows the consequences of his Season 14 storyline. Pascal was charged after disobeying a federal agent’s orders and entering a dangerous house fire to retrieve evidence connected to a case. Although the charges were later dropped, Pascal lost his job.

He subsequently received an offer to join a firehouse in Phoenix, Arizona. Before leaving Firehouse 51, Pascal passed on some advice to Kelly Severide, played by Taylor Kinney, giving the character a clear departure while leaving open the possibility of a future return.

Mulroney has also appeared in films including My Best Friend’s Wedding and The Family Stone, as well as the series Secret Invasion. Speaking at a panel during Chicago’s Flashback Weekend in August, he expressed affection for the production but acknowledged the sadness of moving on.

“I love every minute. Sad to see it go.”

Cruz has been part of the One Chicago universe since its beginning. In addition to his regular role on Chicago Fire, he has appeared as a guest across eight episodes of Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med.
