DC Studios has reshaped Warner Bros.’ comic-book screen strategy since James Gunn and Peter Safran became co-chairs and CEOs in 2022. The new DCU began with the animated series Creature Commandos in 2024, with Superman, Green Lantern, Batman and other heroes now being developed across film and television.

The plan has changed since Gunn first discussed a decade-long universe spanning movies, television and video games. Some projects from the earlier era also remain in progress, including Matt Reeves’ Batman sequel and the unresolved future of Peacemaker, whose story crossed both versions of the DC continuity.
Here is the announced DC Studios slate, arranged by the release information currently available.
2026 releases
Clayface
Release date: 23 October 2026, in cinemas
Clayface was not part of Gunn and Safran’s original DCU plans. Writer and filmmaker Mike Flanagan nevertheless won their support with a concept described as a horror-thriller tragedy. James Watkins directs the film, which presents a new origin for the Batman villain.
Tom Rhys Harries plays Matt Hagen, an emerging film star who is brutally disfigured and undergoes an experimental treatment intended to restore his appearance. Naomi Ackie and Max Minghella also star.
2027 releases
Man of Tomorrow
Release date: 9 July 2027, in cinemas

The Superman follow-up places Clark Kent and Lex Luthor in an uneasy alliance against a far greater threat. That enemy appears to be Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger.
David Corenswet returns as Superman, with Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen. Isabela Merced, Frank Grillo, María Gabriela de Faría, Sara Sampaio, Milly Alcock, Aaron Pierre and Adria Arjona also appear, playing Hawkgirl, Rick Flag Sr., the Engineer, Eve Teschmacher, Supergirl, John Stewart/Green Lantern and reportedly Maxima respectively. Andre Royo, Matthew Lillard and Sinqua Walls have unspecified roles.

The People v. Gorilla Grodd
Release date: To be announced
This eight-episode, half-hour comedy follows Daily Planet reporter Jimmy Olsen as he investigates a murder involving Gorilla Grodd, a psychic gorilla accused of killing his father. The mockumentary series is designed in the broad tradition of The Office, Parks and Recreation and American Vandal.
Skyler Gisondo reprises Jimmy Olsen and appears alongside Jimmy Tatro as Grodd. Beck Bennett, Mikaela Hoover and Wendell Pierce return as Steve Lombard, Cat Grant and Perry White. Mary Holland, Eduardo Franco, Arian Moayed, Dan Perrault, Andrew Leeds and Tim Baltz also star. Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault serve as showrunners, writers and executive producers.
2028 releases
The Batman Part 2
Release date: 18 February 2028, in cinemas

Matt Reeves’ 2022 interpretation of Batman overcame a lengthy and unsettled development history, earning a sequel after its strong audience and box-office response. Robert Pattinson returns as Bruce Wayne, with Reeves again directing and co-writing.
The sequel was initially planned for 2025 but has been delayed several times. Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell return as Jim Gordon, Alfred Pennyworth and Oz Cobb/The Penguin. Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson and Charles Dance have also joined the cast.
Dynamic Duo
Release date: 30 June 2028

Dynamic Duo is an animated origin story about Dick Grayson, the original Robin, and Jason Todd, the second boy to take on the role. The project comes from Gunn and Safran’s DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, with Matthew Aldrich writing.
Undated DC Studios projects
The Brave and the Bold

This Batman film will introduce Damian Wayne, Bruce’s biological son and the fifth of his Robins, to the live-action DCU. Its story draws on Grant Morrison’s Batman and Son comics. It will establish the DCU’s Batman and Robin continuity and will be separate from Reeves’ The Batman films.
Booster Gold

Gunn announced this television project as part of the new DCU slate, but details remain limited. The intended focus is the time-travelling hero’s comedic adventures. David Jenkins was previously attached as writer, though he said his version would not proceed. The series has not been formally declared cancelled.
Swamp Thing

The plant-based hero dates back to 1971 and was notably reinvented by Alan Moore in 1984. James Mangold is attached to the film, which Gunn has called a passion project, but Mangold is also expected to complete a Star Wars film first.
Mister Miracle

This animated adaptation draws from Tom King and Mitch Gerads’ 2017 limited series. It follows Scott Free, an escape artist attempting to evade death, after his apparently perfect life with warrior wife Big Barda begins to unravel.
Peter Safran confirmed Josh Hutcherson as Mister Miracle and Mackenzie Davis as Big Barda. King wrote all eight episodes, and Safran described the scripts as “dynamite”.
Blue Beetle animated series

The animated series centres on Jaime Reyes, the Blue Beetle seen in the 2023 film. Miguel Puga, co-creator of The Casagrandes, is attached as showrunner.
Untitled Wonder Woman film

A new Wonder Woman movie is being developed for the DCU. Gunn confirmed in June 2025 that its script was being written. No further creative or casting details have been announced, and it is not expected to continue the Gal Gadot-led film continuity.
Untitled Teen Titans film

A live-action Teen Titans movie remains at an early stage. Supergirl writer Ana Nogueira submitted a draft that Gunn praised, but he said the script was still being refined rather than finished.
The team first appeared in 1964 with Robin, Kid Flash and Aqualad, later expanding to include Wonder Girl, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Starfire and Raven. The characters also have a popular animated comedy series in Teen Titans Go!.
Savage Hunters

Savage Hunters brings Batman enemies Bane and Deathstroke together in a proposed live-action film. Matthew Orton, known for Moon Knight and Cleaner, is writing the script. Peter Safran confirmed the project, while Gunn described it as a story in the vein of a Deathstroke-and-Bane team-up.

What the slate means
The DCU now combines firmly dated theatrical releases with animated projects and early-stage concepts. The coexistence of Reeves’ separate Batman films and the planned DCU version of Batman underlines the studio’s willingness to run distinct continuities at the same time.
