Content warning: Crossed is built around extreme horror, graphic violence and disturbing subject matter.

Garth Ennis, the comic writer behind The Boys, is taking another notoriously brutal property to the screen. He has teamed up with Rob Jabbaz, director of The Sadness, for a film adaptation of Crossed.
A new teaser trailer has been released by Six Studios, offering an early look at the film’s bleak survival-horror premise. The trailer is available via Bloody Disgusting.
For readers who follow The Boys, the project represents a much harsher side of Ennis’ work. Some comic stories seem especially difficult to adapt because their format is so distinctive or their subject matter is exceptionally confronting. Crossed falls firmly into both categories.
What is Crossed about?

Produced by Los Angeles-based company Six Studios, Crossed follows a group of strangers travelling north in search of safety. They are trying to stay ahead of infected people known as the Crossed.
The Crossed are not conventional slow-moving zombies. A mysterious infection leaves a red cross on the forehead and removes the restraint normally preventing people from acting on their darkest impulses. The resulting threat is defined by murder, sexual violence and other atrocities, making the infected as dangerous for their intentions as for their physical attack.
Ennis wrote the screenplay from the original 10-issue Crossed comic run. Rob Jabbaz directs the adaptation, bringing experience from The Sadness, another extreme horror film.
The Crossed cast

Devin Druid, known for 13 Reasons Why, and Ash Santos, who appeared in American Horror Story, play the central survivors Stan and Cindy. They lead a larger group that includes:
- Bob Morley as Randall, following his role in The 100
- Steven Hack as Geoff, from Little Death
- Ethan Jones Romero as Thomas, from Law & Order
- Chido Nwokocha as Kitrick, from Top Gun: Maverick
- Spenser Granese as Brett, from Dope Thief
- Kyla Hee as Kelly, from Psychosis
- Ana Mulvoy Ten as Sheena, from American Crime
- Lorenzo Ross as Patrick, in his first acting role

A disturbing villain awaits
During their journey, the survivors encounter the leader of the infected: a depraved figure called Horsecock. Owen Harn, who appeared in Cobra Kai, plays the character. The name is deliberately provocative, but the reason behind it is described as even more disturbing.
The film currently has no confirmed release date beyond the broad “coming soon” announcement. Australian horror fans will have to wait for further news before knowing when this exceptionally confronting comic adaptation will arrive.
