Breakers Revenge Chicago is now available for exA-Arcadia systems, bringing a refreshed version of Visco Games’ 1998 Neo Geo MVS fighter to modern arcade hardware.
Breakers Revenge returns with new options
Originally released for the Neo Geo MVS in 1998, Breakers Revenge is a competitive fighter with a format familiar to fans of Street Fighter II. Its distinctive breaking mechanics add extra tactical depth, helping the game earn lasting appreciation among dedicated fighting-game players despite never achieving the same broad recognition as Capcom’s classic.
The new edition preserves the original game’s presentation and character while adding several updates. Input latency is listed at 0.3 frames, the original aspect ratio remains available with artwork filling the side areas, and the soundtrack includes both newly arranged music and the original samples from the Neo Geo CD version. A new voice announcer and additional gameplay styles round out the package.
Three gameplay styles
- REVENGE – Recreates the original Breakers Revenge experience.
- EXTRA! – Adds more damaging advanced techniques, including chain combos, Revenge Recovery for immediate recovery from hit or guard stun, guard push-back, and Dead Revenge for cancelling KOs.
- CHICAGO – Rebalances the fighter and introduces short hops, supporting a more aggressive approach to matches.
An early build of the game was playable earlier in the year, providing an initial look at the updated fighter before its release.
The Breakers Revenge Chicago kit
The release works with exA-Arcadia systems, allowing it to be installed in any suitable exA machine rather than limiting it to the Japanese market. Distributors named for the release include AVS Companies, Moss, Shaffer, Player One, Red Sun Systems and Planet Arcades.

The package is a standard kit at this point, with no Limited Edition version containing additional items. It can also operate with a vertical monitor, which may suit existing cabinet configurations.
Breakers Revenge Chicago is the second Neo Geo MVS game to make the transition to exA-Arcadia. Possible future conversions could include another fighting game, a higher-profile title such as Metal Slug, or a different style of release such as Ninja Combat or Crossed Swords.
