Bluey heads to the big screen
Disney has shown the first substantial teaser for The Bluey Movie, giving audiences at D23 an early look at the Heeler family’s move from television to feature film. The response placed the trailer among the event’s biggest moments.
The footage presents a larger, cinema-scale adventure while keeping the playful spirit that defines Bluey. A shift to 3D is immediately apparent, but Bluey, Bingo, Chilli and Bandit still move and behave in familiar ways. That balance should appeal both to children who enjoy the sisters’ imaginative games and to parents who recognise the show’s observations about family life.
Australian talent remains central
Bluey creator Joe Brumm is writing and directing the film. Ludo Studio is involved in the production alongside Australian animation studio Cosmic Dino, which is responsible for the computer-generated animation.
Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack will return as the voices of Chilli and Bandit. Bluey and Bingo will again be voiced by child performers.
2027 belongs to Bingo.
When will The Bluey Movie be released?
The Bluey Movie is scheduled to open in Australian and international cinemas on 6 August 2027. The trailer marks the first detailed preview of how the much-loved television series is being expanded into a feature-length story.
