The Blood of Dawnwalker will launch with a day-one console patch adding a 60fps performance mode to selected current-generation systems. Rebel Wolves made the commitment after players questioned the game’s initially announced console options.
Three graphics modes on most current-generation consoles
On PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro and Xbox Series X, players will be able to choose between three presentation options when the game launches on 3 September:
- Quality: 30fps
- Balanced: 40fps
- Performance: targeting 60fps
The 60fps option was not part of an earlier console gameplay video published on 21 August. That footage referred only to quality and balanced modes, which led many viewers to assume that a performance setting would not be available at launch.
Developer waited before confirming the patch
Discussion beneath the console trailer reflected strong demand for a higher frame rate, with commenters arguing that 60fps should be expected from a new-generation console release. Rebel Wolves subsequently explained on X that the performance mode had been in development but was still undergoing testing.
The studio said it chose not to promise the feature until the team was confident it could deliver it on the first day. That means the performance mode is planned for launch rather than being scheduled as a later update.
Xbox Series S remains limited to 30fps
The announcement does not extend to Xbox Series S. On Microsoft’s less powerful current-generation console, The Blood of Dawnwalker will be capped at 30fps.
