BlizzCon returns on Saturday, 12 September 2026, after a stop-start run of events. The convention was cancelled in 2020, moved online in 2021, skipped 2022, returned in 2023, then disappeared again in 2024 and 2025.
That long gap makes this year’s show feel like a reset. World of Warcraft should receive major attention as its current story reaches an important stage, while a series of clues suggests that StarCraft may also be central to the programme.

Here are the announcements and reveals most likely to define the event.
World of Warcraft: The Last Titan
Updates for the current World of Warcraft expansion, Midnight, are virtually certain. Blizzard could use the show to reveal the major patch that closes this chapter, potentially including a new zone, dungeon, delve and raid, alongside other features. A limited-time mode, such as the rumoured Shadowlands Remix, is another possibility.
The larger question is whether Blizzard will finally unveil The Last Titan, the third and final expansion in “The Worldsoul Saga”. The story is building towards a confrontation with void harbinger Xal’atath, who is attempting to consume Azeroth’s world-soul.
Interest in the expansion is already high, particularly because it is expected to revisit a reworked Northrend, the region associated with Wrath of the Lich King. Fans will also want major developments involving the planet itself and, ideally, some acknowledgement of the enormous sword embedded in it. A cinematic and broad overview of Northrend seem more plausible than a release date or a detailed feature breakdown.

Camelot
“Camelot” has appeared often enough in Blizzard-related clues to become one of the show’s biggest mysteries. The leading community theory is that it refers to a reworked version of World of Warcraft: Classic—possibly a more ambitious alternate take on the original game that follows a different direction from the modern version.
No firm details are available, but a BlizzCon reveal looks increasingly likely. The recent addition of a Camelot colour scheme to Blizzard’s apparel-store backend has further fuelled speculation that themed merchandise is being prepared.
More Warcraft possibilities
Other Warcraft rumours are considerably less defined. Warcraft Chronicles has been mentioned as a possible new real-time strategy game, while Blizzard’s renewed interest in its classic catalogue could also point to projects connected with Warcraft 1, Warcraft 2 or Warcraft 3.
Blizzard has also shown interest in expanding Warcraft beyond games. A film or television announcement cannot be ruled out, although there is no confirmed detail pointing to a particular project.
A new StarCraft shooter—or something unexpected
Blizzard has been pretty overtly teasing something StarCraft-related through its website and promotional material. There is even an ARG going on, adding to the sense that the series will have a meaningful presence.
Blizzard has previously worked on a StarCraft shooter, and recent reports suggest that the concept may still be active, although its final form remains unknown. Even a brief announcement would be significant: StarCraft 2 launched in 2010, and the series’ most recent release was a remaster nearly a decade ago.

Diablo: expansion or anniversary celebration?
There should be Diablo news, but the scale is difficult to predict. Diablo 4 is three years old, and the Lord of Hatred expansion only arrived in April, making a completely new game unlikely. A reveal for an expansion planned for mid- or late-2027 is possible, although smaller updates may better match Blizzard’s own announced line-up for Diablo.
There is one reason to expect something more substantial: 2026 marks Diablo’s 30th anniversary. Even if no major expansion is announced, Blizzard has a strong opportunity to mark the milestone with a meaningful celebration.
New heroes for Overwatch
Blizzard promised 10 Overwatch heroes during the year, with two still unrevealed. At least one of those characters is likely to be shown at BlizzCon, and both could appear alongside early hints about the 2027 release plan.
Other possible announcements include a new map, updates to existing heroes or maps, another cinematic and additional cosmetics. It may not be a landmark year for Overwatch, but a focused set of updates would still give the game a useful presence.
Hearthstone clues
Mysterious Hearthstone images featuring the numbers 9, 1 and 2 appear to point towards the 12 September opening ceremony. The visual style has prompted theories about an Old God-themed expansion.
The biggest community question is whether Blizzard will add a new class. Monk is the leading candidate and would be the first new class in four years. Monks have been playable in World of Warcraft since 2012, yet Hearthstone has added Death Knights and Demon Hunters without introducing them.
A classic-focused BlizzCon
The strongest expectations sit with World of Warcraft and, unexpectedly, StarCraft. Camelot is the most intriguing unknown, while the wider emphasis on older Blizzard properties raises questions about the company’s long-term plans for its classic franchises.
