Beast of Reincarnation understands a familiar pet-owner experience: a dog or cat can appear beside you without warning, turning an ordinary moment into a stumble or a sudden fright. In this post-apocalyptic adventure, that feeling comes from Koo, Emma’s enormous wolf companion.

Koo is far more than a normal animal. He can absorb a force known as the blight, gaining elemental abilities while vines and foliage spread across his tail. Emma and Koo initially meet in difficult circumstances and are set against each other, but they eventually form an alliance. Together, they take on violent creatures called malefacts, absorbing their powers and growing stronger.

Koo’s teleporting entrances never stop being startling

One of Koo’s blight-fuelled abilities is teleportation. If Emma moves too far away, he instantly closes the distance, usually arriving in a theatrical burst of smoke. It looks like a deliberately dramatic magic trick, but the sudden appearance and sharp sound can feel less like a friendly reunion and more like an ambush.

That reaction remains surprisingly effective throughout the adventure. A player described the game as an unusually accurate depiction of a pet appearing beside you while you are busy, and Koo’s timing certainly supports that comparison. You may know he is only catching up, yet your instincts still prepare for an enemy attack.

Koo’s entrances are especially startling because they interrupt an otherwise quiet journey through the game’s world.

A calm world makes every arrival hit harder

For much of its running time, Beast of Reincarnation has a measured atmosphere. Combat can be demanding and its enemies are dangerous, but the environments often resemble still-life paintings. The music is beautiful, while the broader world remains subdued and quiet.

Human civilisation is fading, and vegetation has reclaimed even large cities. Exploring these spaces can feel peaceful until Koo bounds in with a smoke-filled entrance, as if he has thrown a theatrical smoke grenade into an otherwise serene scene.

After roughly 24 hours with the game, the effect had not worn off. Even well into the story, Koo’s instant arrival could trigger a jolt, as though a monster were about to appear and drain Emma’s health. The game’s challenging fights may also leave players ready to parry or dodge anything that moves. Koo, meanwhile, seems unaware of the overstimulation and simply wants to play.
