Barrels of Fun has revealed its next pinball release, Winchester Mystery House, as Pinball Expo 2025 returns to Chicago. The announcement follows the company’s earlier DUNE machine and continues its run of distinctive licensed themes.
Barrels of Fun is also notable as the only pinball manufacturer whose company name does not include the word “pinball”. Winchester Mystery House is designed by Karl Deangelo and draws on the unusual history of its real-world setting.
What is Winchester Mystery House?
The theme comes from a famous “haunted house” located in San Jose, CA. The property was associated with William and Sarah Winchester. William was heir to the Winchester Repeating Arms company, known for its firearms.
After William died from tuberculosis, Sarah used her fortune to continually expand and alter the house. Her eccentric architectural ideas, along with a fear of spirits, helped create a maze-like curiosity intended to confuse supernatural forces. Winchester Mystery House pinball features
The machine adapts elements of the house’s lore rather than attempting to reproduce all of its roughly 500 rooms. The revealed design includes changing halls and a Pepper’s Ghost effect, giving the game a strong theatrical angle.
The announced feature list includes:

- 4 metal ramps, 5 chrome wire habitrails, 2 subways, 2 scoops, 2 vertical upkicks, 2 magnets, 1 spinner, 1 diverter and 1 kickback
- 2 drop-target banks, 1 inline drop-target bank, 1 captive ball, 2 up-posts and a physical 3-ball lock
- Horizon Atmospheric Lighting (HAL)
- RGBW LED low-profile inner-cabinet lighting for haunted lighting effects, plus playfield insert lamps, general illumination lamps and playfield apron flood lights
- EverGloss high-gloss decal art
- Infinity Glass anti-reflective glass
- Thunder From Down Under shaker motor
- Factory-installed inner blade art
- 15.6-inch HD LCD display, flanked by 5.25-inch full-range stereo speakers with interactive full RGBW illumination
- 8-inch cabinet subwoofer
- Polyester metallic powder-coated cabinet armour and matching speaker panel with laser-cut stained-glass-pattern speaker grilles
- 12.3-inch LCD Pepper’s Ghost display for an interactive experience with the spirits of the house
Production numbers and price
Production is limited to 525 units, with one model type announced. The manufacturer lists an MSRP of $11,600, before applicable tax and freight.
The machine is scheduled to appear at Pinball Expo 2025 in Chicago before moving into wider circulation. With a limited run and an MSRP at this level, many examples are likely to end up in private collections.
