Baldur’s Gate 3 Stats Reveal Alfira’s Unlikely Fate

Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios has shared another set of player statistics, and one result is difficult to explain: more regular characters have killed Alfira than Dark Urge characters have.

That is a particularly grim statistic because Alfira, the cheerful tiefling bard encountered early in the game, is closely tied to the Dark Urge storyline. Players who select that origin are compelled to kill her as the story introduces the character’s violent connection to Bhaal, the dark god associated with murder.

The Alfira statistic is the real shock

For Dark Urge players, Alfira’s death is a compulsory early event. It demonstrates that the character is not merely troubled, but driven towards murder by the lingering influence of Bhaal. The expectation, then, would be that Dark Urge runs account for most of her deaths.

Larian’s figures suggest otherwise. Players using a standard character have collectively killed Alfira more often than those following the Dark Urge path. The statistic does not explain why, leaving ordinary adventurers with some uncomfortable questions to answer.

Some very unusual ways to play

The latest figures contain several other oddities. More than 100 people played Baldur’s Gate 3 in a 1:1 aspect ratio, while another group chose 9:16. Those players may have been using unusual monitor orientations, or preparing vertically framed footage for online video.

Larian introduced the statistics with a playful message for its number-focused community.

Four players brought a poo-knife to Act 3

Weapon choices provided another memorable detail. Exactly four players used the poop-knife weapon during battles in Act 3, proving that some adventurers will carry an exceptionally questionable tool into a fight against the Absolute and its giant brain.

Larian also highlighted how readily players have sought out rare weapons, including the rusty Poo-Scraper. It is an unusual contrast with the powerful equipment available during the game’s final act.

These statistics are a reminder of how much freedom Baldur’s Gate 3 gives its players. Some approach the campaign with carefully chosen equipment and conventional tactics; others experiment with extreme display formats or turn a filthy novelty weapon into battle gear.

Still, the Alfira figure remains the hardest to reconcile. Dark Urge players are required to kill her, yet standard characters have managed to surpass them. Whoever is responsible may wish to explain themselves.
