Spoiler warning: leaked footage from the upcoming Avengers: Endgame cinema re-release appears to connect Steve Rogers, Loki and the multiverse storyline leading into Avengers: Doomsday.
Earlier this year, the Russo brothers announced that Endgame would return to cinemas with a small amount of additional material. The new scenes were expected to help bridge the film and December’s Avengers: Doomsday, although Marvel did not initially explain what had been added.
The revised version is scheduled to screen from 25 September. Clips filmed during preview screenings have since appeared online, though the recordings are poor quality and may disappear quickly. Viewers who want to experience the material without spoilers should stop reading here.

What the leaked clips show
At least three pieces of footage are circulating. The first extends the familiar ending in which Steve Rogers travels back in time to reunite with Peggy Carter. After the couple kiss, a noise interrupts them. Steve hides while Peggy answers the door, revealing Loki. Steve then emerges, and the characters exchange sombre looks before the scene cuts to the credits.
A second sequence, reportedly seen in an earlier Korean release, follows Loki’s TVA associates as they investigate an overlap involving Earth-10005, the former X-Men universe expected to appear in Doomsday, and a new reality identified as Earth-1127.
The scene appears to clarify footage of Xavier looking up as fire falls from the sky. Miss Minutes instructs people to remain where they are, while Mobius and Ouroboros react to warnings that the two Earths are about to collide. An animation shows missiles being launched between the realities, followed by reports of thousands of simultaneous incursions as the multiverse begins to collapse.
A clip involving Bruce Banner has also been shared. The material has circulated through the Avengers Endgame Encore: Post Credit Scene discussion on Reddit, alongside a separate post showing Bruce Banner after the events of Brand New Day.
Does the footage support the Loki theory?
Reports indicate that different screenings may have different runtimes, suggesting that not every cinema showing includes the same amount of new material. That makes it unclear whether all of these scenes will be presented at every screening.
The brief Steve-and-Peggy continuation is nevertheless attracting attention because it appears to reinforce a popular theory about Doomsday. Captain America is prominently featured in the film’s trailer, and he is shown wielding Mjölnir. Within the established MCU story, Steve Rogers and Thor are the characters known to be worthy of lifting the hammer.
The theory proposes that the figure presented as Steve may actually be Loki in disguise. Loki was not previously considered worthy of Mjölnir, despite being Thor’s brother and a god, but his character changed substantially across the two seasons of Loki. His redemption culminated in a sacrifice that left him holding the timelines together.
That transformation has led some fans to argue that Loki might now be worthy of the hammer. His sudden appearance in Steve’s past does not confirm the idea, but it gives the theory an intriguing connection to the new footage.
When will audiences know more?
Avengers: Doomsday is due in cinemas on 18 December. Before then, audiences can revisit Endgame in cinemas from 25 September, although the additional material may amount to only a couple of minutes and may vary between screenings.
