Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender is moving beyond streaming, with Paramount Plus and Alliance Home Entertainment confirming physical editions of the animated film.
The release will include DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD formats. Australian collectors should note that the announced dates are November 3, 2026, for DVD and Blu-ray, followed by February 9, 2027, for 4K Ultra HD.
From streaming debut to home-video release
The film premiered on Paramount Plus on July 24, 2026, and received a strong response. It holds a 90% critic score and a 99% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Its launch was overshadowed by a major leak. Following a reported hack, the complete film was uploaded to X in April, in what was described as one of Hollywood’s biggest leaks in recent years.
Paramount had initially indicated that the movie would be exclusive to its streaming service. Some viewers hoped the leak might lead to a broader cinema release, creating an experience distinct from watching at home. Instead, the film received only an extremely limited theatrical run in selected cinemas.
A physical edition gives the film a more permanent place in home collections—something that is not guaranteed for movies made primarily for streaming. More Avatar stories are on the way
The film is part of a broader return for the franchise in 2026, alongside Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game. A new television series is also scheduled to arrive on Paramount Plus next month.
Avatar: Seven Havens is a sequel to The Legend of Korra. It follows Avatar Pavi, a young Earthbender living in a post-apocalyptic era. The series premieres on October 9, 2026, and has been ordered for two seasons, with 13 episodes in each season.
