Koei Tecmo has confirmed that Attack on Titan 3 will launch on December 10, 2026, placing the anime action game several weeks after Grand Theft Auto 6 arrives on November 19.
The release timing reflects a crowded 2026 game calendar. Several titles are moving into September or October, while others appear to be avoiding the enormous attention expected to surround Rockstar’s open-world sequel. For more gaming news, browse the RETROCADE Arcade Blog.
A complete manga adaptation
Developed by Omega Force, the team behind Dynasty Warriors, and published by Koei Tecmo, Attack on Titan 3 is the first new game in the series in more than eight years. Its story can draw from the full manga, including its controversial ending.
Players will not step directly into the roles of Eren, Armin or Mikasa. Instead, the campaign follows a customisable original character who experiences the major events of the manga.
Pre-orders and special editions
Pre-orders are now open, alongside details of two special options: a physical Steelbook edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition.
The Digital Deluxe Edition includes cosmetic downloadable content, a digital art book and 72 hours of early access on every platform except Nintendo Switch 2. Players with Attack on Titan 2 save data on their system will also receive an in-game bonus.

December is already crowded
Although Attack on Titan 3 is an anime-inspired action title rather than a direct competitor to GTA 6, its December release still demonstrates how carefully publishers are positioning major games around the November blockbuster.
The December schedule also includes Japanese-developed releases such as Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. Games launching close to GTA 6 are mainly ports and remasters, including Barbie Rewind, Gothic 3 Classic and the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Metaphor ReFantazio.

Platforms and launch date
Attack on Titan 3 is scheduled for December 10, 2026, on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X. That timing could make it one of the final AAA releases in an exceptionally busy autumn 2026 season.
