The Phantom Targets Player Project in Arc Raiders adds a three-part challenge series with rewards for Raiders. Only Part 1 is currently available; Part 2 is scheduled to arrive with the 1.42 update on 18 August.

The opening section asks you to upgrade cargo-elevator antennas and damage or destroy Arc enemies with specific weapons, ammunition and Arc parts. Some objectives are easier if you know where to search and which enemies to target.

Here is every available Phantom Targets challenge, along with its rewards and completion advice.

Phantom Targets Part 1 challenges and rewards

Part 1 contains three steps:

  • Step 1: Upgrade antennas on top of Cargo Elevators. Rewards: Combat Mk. 3 augment (Aggressive), heavy shield and vita spray.
  • Step 2: Deal damage to Arc enemies with wasp drivers, pop triggers and leaper pulse units. Rewards: 50 Raider Tokens, Aphelion battle rifle, Dolabra shotgun and Jupiter sniper rifle.
  • Step 3: Destroy Arc enemies with fire damage, energy damage and launcher ammunition. Rewards: 50 Raider Tokens, powered descender, horizontal grip and snap hook.

For players comparing this event with other gaming news, the RETROCADE arcade blog covers more updates from the wider gaming and arcade scene.

Step 1: Upgrade three cargo-elevator antennas

Find extraction elevators in Riven Tides, Spaceport or Dam Battlegrounds. Three antennas must be upgraded, and Dam Battlegrounds is generally the easiest of these locations.

An antenna found on top of an extraction elevator in Arc Raiders.

Climb onto an elevator and approach the antenna at one of its corners. When the Upgrade prompt appears, interact until the bar fills completely once. Although the antenna can be used again, a single completed upgrade counts for that antenna.

You can upgrade more than one antenna during the same run, so it is possible to finish this step in one outing. After upgrading three antennas, return to Speranza to complete the quest.

Step 2: Test Arc parts for irregular behaviour

This objective requires damage totals using three Arc parts:

  • Deal 50 damage with pop triggers.
  • Deal 500 damage with wasp drivers.
  • Deal 1,000 damage with leaper pulse units.

The required parts come from particular Arc enemies and locations:

  • Pop triggers are dropped by Pops, the white orb enemies that explode. They are commonly found in Stella Montis and inside buildings in Buried City.
  • Wasp drivers come from Wasps, flying drones that appear on every map. Finding a Snitch, or using a Snitch scanner, is an effective way to locate a Wasp.
  • Leaper pulse units are dropped by Leapers, the large four-legged robots. The Water Treatment extraction point and Red Lakes in Dam Battlegrounds have been useful places to search, although other players may also be hunting there.

This can be the toughest step because Arcs move constantly and the parts are difficult to aim. Showstoppers can make the task easier by stunning other Arcs. More stationary enemies, such as Bombardiers, are another option, but they can be difficult to defeat.

Step 3: Use several Arc destruction methods

The final Part 1 step has three requirements:

  • Deal 1,500 damage to Arc enemies with fire-damage items: blaze grenades, Firefly and Fireball Burner, or Flame Spray.
  • Destroy three Bastions, Leapers, Vaporizers or Rocketeers with energy weapons: Aphelion, Dolabra, Jupiter or Equalizer.
  • Destroy 20 flying Arcs with launcher ammunition weapons: Hullcracker or Rascal.

For the fire-damage requirement, use the same careful approach as in Step 2. The 1,500-damage target can take time, so larger Arcs are worthwhile targets if you can throw blaze grenades or Fireball Burners from a safe distance.

The Aphelion, Dolabra and Jupiter are awarded for Step 2. The Jupiter is especially useful because of its longer range, but any of the listed energy weapons can defeat the required enemies.

For the launcher objective, focus on smaller flying Arcs because they have less health. If you need a launcher, Hullcracker can be purchased from Tian Wen for 30,000 coins after reaching level 20.
