Andamiro has provided a detailed look at Pump It Up Phoenix, the next entry in its long-running dance arcade series. The reveal follows a lengthy gap since Pump It Up XX, released four years earlier.

Pump It Up returns after a difficult pause

Development and song updates slowed considerably during the pandemic, leading to speculation that the series might have ended. Those rumours ultimately proved unfounded, although the extended period without new content made the future of Pump It Up difficult to read.

Now, it’s been four years since the last iteration of the game, and Andamiro’s latest presentation gives fans a clearer view of what comes next.

New scoring, Premium mode and music

The trailer, described by Andamiro as a second teaser, highlights several changes planned for Pump It Up Phoenix. These include revised scoring, a new Premium mode, fresh K-pop tracks and additional original songs.

The Phoenix name may also serve as a knowing reference to the uncertainty surrounding the series during its long development pause.

First hands-on opportunity in South Korea

Players in South Korea attending the Play X4 event have an opportunity to try the new game. International timing remains less certain. A US release may not arrive until the end of 2023, as Andamiro USA has commonly waited for IAAPA in November to present these projects, although the company could change that pattern.

Existing cabinets may remain useful

Andamiro has not yet shown a new cabinet for Pump It Up Phoenix. A dedicated machine could still be announced later, but the software is also expected to follow the series’ kit-based approach.

That upgrade path means operators do not necessarily need to purchase an entirely new cabinet whenever a new version launches.
