Several major arcade-exclusive releases are approaching their shipping windows as summer arrives, although some titles have experienced delays linked to the tariffs situation. With that outlook appearing clearer for the second half of 2025, one of the upcoming games to watch is Alpha Ops VR Strike, an original virtual-reality motion shooter developed by 3MindWave with Sega Amusements International.

The game was first unveiled at IAAPA 2024 and has since appeared at trade shows and location tests around the world. New direct-capture footage now provides a look at all three stages, including the final boss level that was not available in earlier previews.

For Australian arcade operators and enthusiasts comparing new arcade machines, this cabinet is notable for combining a seated motion platform with a dedicated virtual-reality shooting experience.

What is Alpha Ops VR Strike?

Alpha Ops VR Strike builds on the ideas introduced by VR Agent, the 2022 release from the same developer and Sega Amusements. Both games use an integrated gun-and-headset setup, but the newer title adopts a lighter headset design and places players on a seated motion base instead of using a standing format.

The scenario also takes a different direction. Rather than playing secret agents, participants join the Alpha Ops squad and operate an armoured vehicle while attacking advanced enemy forces.

For readers considering the space and installation needs of an arcade cabinet, the seated format also sets this title apart from conventional upright machines and compact bartop arcades.

Three Unreal Engine 5 stages

The campaign contains three stages powered by Unreal Engine 5. Each one moves the action to a different setting before the final confrontation at the enemy headquarters.

Ice Blizzard

The opening mission, Ice Blizzard, sends the Alpha Ops vehicle through a snowy alpine ravine. The route leads towards a large military base, with the cold environment shaping the first assault.

Desert Gorge

Desert Gorge changes the scenery completely. The armoured vehicle travels through sandy canyons before the battle expands onto a bridge and into further military outposts.

The boss stage

The third and final mission is the boss stage. It places players inside the enemy headquarters for the most demanding section of the game, with groups of heavyweight bosses attacking in close succession.

Release outlook

Sega Amusements has also published a shorter gameplay preview using some of the same material. The official gameplay preview offers another quick introduction to the cabinet and its three environments.

The company has additionally released a trailer for the rhythm game Maimai DX, assembled from footage captured at Amusement Expo 2025. That title was previously expected to ship around late summer or early autumn.

The most recent release indication for Alpha Ops VR Strike was July, although a later update suggested August could be more likely. The game has also reached at least one UK location, where a player was able to try it ahead of release.

With its three-stage structure, seated motion system and revised VR hardware, Alpha Ops VR Strike offers a distinct take on the motion-shooter format. The key question for operators will be how the complete experience performs once the machine begins arriving at locations.
