Bill Skarsgård has been confirmed as the lead performer in Hideo Kojima’s upcoming action-espionage game Physint. The actor is widely recognised for playing Pennywise in Andy Muschietti’s It films and Count Orlok in Nosferatu.
The casting announcement arrived at the end of Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 presentation, which also included a new behind-the-scenes look at Kojima Productions’ horror project OD – KNOCK. It is the first substantial Physint update since the project moved from its original PlayStation association to Xbox.
Kojima said Physint is continuing to make “steady progress”, although the presentation revealed few additional details about the game itself. The project is positioned as a spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid, combining espionage themes with Kojima’s interest in film and television.

What we know about Physint’s cast
Skarsgård joins previously announced cast members Don Lee, Minami Hamabe and Charlee Fraser. Kojima Productions has not finished assembling the full team, with casting, talent scans and partnerships with outside creators still underway.
Kojima praised Skarsgård’s involvement in a statement published on the company’s website.
“I’m delighted to confirm the lead role for Physint will be Bill Skarsgård,” Kojima said. “We are both long-time fans of each other’s work, and we’ve decided to embark on this new adventure together.”
He added that costume fittings, scans and camera tests involving Skarsgård and Fraser earlier in the year gave him strong confidence in the project’s direction.
A wider Xbox and Kojima Productions partnership
In its blog announcement, Xbox said its collaboration with Kojima Productions extends beyond games. The companies are also working across film and television to bring new stories to larger audiences.
That multimedia ambition is notable because Kojima had previously discussed working with Sony’s Columbia Pictures on the film-related elements of Physint. The latest update does not explain how those plans relate to the broader Xbox partnership.
What comes next
For now, the major news is Skarsgård’s lead role rather than a release date, gameplay reveal or detailed story outline. Further casting, performance capture and external creative collaborations appear to be among the next stages of development.
