Cygames has introduced Cygames Edge, a new publishing label for small and mid-sized games developed internally. Its stated aim is to deliver distinctive projects more regularly, with Where the Seeds Fall announced as the label’s first release.
The move creates room for projects that do not carry the scale and expectations of Cygames’ major productions. The company has earned strong responses for games including Umamusume: Pretty Derby and Granblue Fantasy Relink, but several high-profile projects have also spent years in development.
A smaller path for Cygames projects
Granblue Fantasy Relink changed developers after PlatinumGames’ involvement and was eventually completed internally. It launched in Summer 2024, eight years after its original announcement, and later received an expansion earlier this year.
Other long-running projects include Project Awakening, announced in 2016, and Garnet Arena: Mages of Magicary, announced in 2021. Both have experienced extended periods without substantial updates, beyond assurances they remain under development.

Where the Seeds Fall takes a compact approach
The first Cygames Edge project is designed around a shorter, more focused experience. Where the Seeds Fall is described as a roughly three-hour action-adventure platformer in which players descend a giant tree.
Replay value will come through additional modes, including a time-trial option aimed at speedrunners. The project is being made by Cygames developers working with ZEREO Inc., rather than by the large teams typically associated with AAA production.

Where the Seeds Fall was revealed during Sony’s State of Play and is scheduled for a digital launch on Steam, PlayStation 5 and Switch 2 on November 5.
