In Pokémon Pokopia, the ocean doors are needed to complete Popplio’s ocean temple in the Bubbly Basin downloadable content. They are easy to miss because the recipe is not sitting in an obvious location around the basin.

The item is much closer to the construction site than you may expect. Here is where to find the recipe, what you need to craft the doors and how many Popplio’s temple requires.

Ocean door recipe location

Before you can build the ocean temple, you must clear the debris around the marked construction area. Look for a Poké Ball buried beneath the sand at ground level. It is positioned slightly west of the construction sign, towards the rear of the building site.

Open that Poké Ball to obtain the ocean doors crafting recipe. Searching elsewhere in Bubbly Basin will not help, as the recipe is hidden among the debris that must be removed before construction.

Materials needed to craft ocean doors

Each ocean door costs one block of star-spotted rock. The material is commonly found in caves and in the deeper sections of Bubbly Basin.

Star-spotted rock is identifiable by the star-like markings across its surface. You can mine it using standard Rock Smash punches, so there is no need to use a burger power-up.

A useful supply can be found in the caves near Bubbly Basin’s town centre, behind the iron slab on the ground. Mareanie sends you into these tunnels while asking you to find a pearl, making that quest a convenient opportunity to collect the required rock.

How many ocean doors does the temple need?

Popplio’s ocean temple requires two ocean doors. Once crafted, they provide a fitting finishing touch for the area’s underwater-themed architecture.

You can also use ocean doors in other builds around the basin. They may help cover gaps in buildings or add a marine-inspired detail to a custom home for your Pokémon.
