Other Mommy is shaping up as one of October 2026’s major horror releases, with Jessica Chastain taking on a frightening dual role and director Rob Savage pushing a disturbing supernatural premise.

Universal’s upcoming film stars Chastain as Ursula, a seemingly ordinary and caring mother, as well as a sinister double capable of hiding beneath tables and twisting her body into deeply unnatural shapes.

A new kind of horror threat
The film’s unsettling trailer has already generated strong interest. Savage, whose previous work includes The Boogeyman and Host, directs the story ahead of its Australian release in cinemas on 9 October 2026.
A newly released image shows Chastain looking angry, composed and visibly rattled. It is not clear whether the character pictured is Ursula or her malicious counterpart, which makes the still an especially intriguing glimpse at the film’s central mystery.
