Memoirium turns dream logic into a Soulslike adventure

Memoirium is a new action RPG from solo developer GoldenGratus that combines PS1-inspired visuals, methodical Soulslike combat and a dream world where medieval ruins, modern classrooms and unsettling liminal spaces can exist side by side.

Scheduled for release on 13 August 2026 for Windows PC, the game is built around the idea that dreams do not need to obey a consistent setting. Players take the role of the Dreamer and explore a shifting network of strange, interconnected locations.

A world assembled from dreams

Memoirium’s environments range from graveyards and rustic castles to a classroom from the 21st century. That sudden movement between fantasy, science fiction and familiar modern spaces is central to the game’s unsettling atmosphere.

Its deliberately retro presentation reinforces the feeling that something is not quite right. The PS1-era graphical style gives each area a rough, incomplete quality, making the world feel liminal rather than traditionally haunted. Players drawn to Backrooms-style unease may find a similar appeal here, while the uncanny mood could also recall Echo Night, the 1998 horror game from FromSoftware.

Measured combat and extensive exploration

The action follows familiar Soulslike principles. Stamina management matters, while success depends on choosing the right moment to use light or heavy attacks, block incoming strikes or dodge clear of danger.

Across eight distinct dungeons, the Dreamer can discover dozens of weapons, spells and equipment pieces. Keepsakes add passive bonuses and offer a small but useful variation on the genre’s usual consumable items: they recharge at specific points instead of disappearing after one use.

Your Room offers a quieter kind of progression

One of Memoirium’s less conventional features is Your Room, a customisable refuge away from the dangers of the dream world. Exploration provides mementos that can be used to decorate the space, including everyday objects such as a bed, desk and desktop computer.

That gives the adventure a personal, domestic counterpoint to its combat and dungeon crawling. The game’s central rhythm can be summed up as dream, defy and decorate.

Supported by Outersloth

Memoirium is backed by Outersloth, the independent game fund established by Among Us developer Innersloth in 2024. Other games supported by the fund include Flock Around and Dosa Divas, released earlier in 2026.

Where it fits in the arcade conversation

Memoirium is designed for Windows PC rather than arcade hardware, but its strong visual identity and deliberate combat could appeal to players who enjoy unusual interactive experiences. RETROCADE’s Arcade Blog covers more gaming and industry news, while the Arcade Videos collection offers another way to explore the wider arcade scene.

If the game’s retro presentation inspires a home setup, the arcade machines collection covers full-size cabinets, and bartop arcades provide a more compact option. Builders planning a custom project can also browse DIY arcade kits.
