Marvel Rivals is adding The Hood to its growing roster when Season 9.5: The Mystery of Thebes arrives on 7 August. NetEase Games has now officially confirmed Parker Robins as the game’s next playable hero.
The Hood is a Vanguard, serving as Marvel Rivals‘ tank-style character. His kit combines street-level gunplay with supernatural powers, including a transformation into a towering gun-headed demon. His team-up abilities will connect him with Cloak & Dagger, Jubilee and Magik.
Players familiar with hero shooters may see similarities to Overwatch‘s Reaper, although The Hood brings a distinct magical twist to the role. The character is voiced by Damian Priest, also known as Luis Berrios, from WWE SmackDown.

How The Hood plays in Marvel Rivals
NetEase describes Parker Robins as a front-line fighter who uses twin pistols to maintain sustained pressure. His mystical cloak channels the chaotic energy of Oblivion, allowing him to create protection for allies and use dark magic orbs that become barriers while reducing the power of incoming attacks.
His Ultimate Ability is Full Demon State. During the transformation, The Hood becomes a fully realised Gun Demon, firing powerful rounds that pierce both shields and enemies. The form also emits dark energy that provides bonus health to nearby teammates.
“Parker lays down relentless frontal cover fire with his twin pistols. Utilizing his mystical cloak he can channel the chaotic energy of Oblivion, and manifest protective shields for his allies, while hurling dark magic orbs that warp into barriers, sapping the strength of incoming enemy fire. For his Ultimate Ability, The Hood fully surrenders to the darkness, entering Full Demon State, transforming into a fully-realized Gun Demon, using high-impact piercing rounds that completely punch through shields and enemies alike, all while radiating dark energy that grants bonus health to nearby teammates!”
Parker Robins’ Marvel Rivals story
The Hood’s arrival has been teased across several parts of the game. He first appeared this year in Marvel Rivals Infinity Comic #43, which explored his villainous backstory. After Parker’s family suffered a disastrous encounter with the Kingpin, his previously altruistic outlook began to deteriorate.
His recognisable red cloak was later seen in the Lower Manhattan map. Parker also featured on a Season 8 gallery card before appearing in the Season 9 announcement trailer, building anticipation for his eventual playable debut.

The Hood beyond the game
Marvel viewers may recognise The Hood from the Disney Plus series Ironheart, where Anthony Ramos played the character. He was created by writer Brian K. Vaughan, known for Saga, in 2002. In the comics, Parker began as a petty criminal who stole objects that gave him powers, using them for his own advantage.
His origin has elements of both Spider-Man and Daredevil, positioning him as a darker reflection of those heroes. Much of his comic history focuses on criminal conflicts involving figures such as the Kingpin, although he later became an unexpected cosmic threat in the second volume of Brian Michael Bendis’ Avengers series from 2010.
