Lifeweaver has been temporarily removed from Overwatch after Blizzard identified a gameplay issue, leaving dedicated players without the support hero for an entire weekend.

Since Friday, players have been unable to select Lifeweaver in matches, browse his cosmetics in the hero gallery or see him listed in pre-match hero-level checks. Blizzard has said the flower-wielding healer will return after the problem is fixed, but it has not explained what caused the issue.

For players who usually queue for every role, there are other heroes available. That does not make the change painless for Lifeweaver specialists, particularly when a support slot appears and the team’s tank starts charging too far ahead. Without Lifeweaver’s healing flowers, high-ground support or vine-like Life Grip, those players have had to watch their teammates overextend without the usual rescue option.

Lifeweaver mains turn the outage into a joke

The sudden disappearance has prompted a steady stream of jokes from the community. One post shared on August 24, 2026 presents Lifeweaver’s absence as an emotional subplot, while another post from August 22, 2026 imagines players asking where the missing hero has gone.

Lifeweaver mains may be without their preferred hero, but the community has responded with humour rather than silence.

There is also a more disruptive side to the incident. Some players reportedly lost access to Lifeweaver during competitive matches, forcing them to choose another hero while games were already underway. A video shared by @jaythelibra_ highlights the frustration of having a selected character disabled mid-match, with no warning or explanation on the hero-select screen.

Could Jetpack Cat be involved?

Blizzard has not identified the specific bug behind the removal. However, some players believe it could be connected to a glitch involving Lifeweaver’s Petal Platform. When positioned in a particular way, the platform was reportedly able to push Jetpack Cat outside the map boundaries.

A clip from @devious_daniel69 shows the community investigating that possible interaction using the tags Overwatch 2, Lifeweaver, Jetpack Cat and an alleged bug. Until Blizzard confirms the cause, the connection remains speculation rather than an official explanation.

Other support heroes take the spotlight

As Monday arrives, Lifeweaver has still not returned. In the meantime, players who normally rely on him are turning to alternatives such as Mizuki and Brigitte.

The incident is a reminder that live-service games can change abruptly, sometimes leaving a favourite character unavailable with little notice.
