One player, one minute, one enormous queue

Jono is a free-to-play platformer with an unusual multiplayer structure: only one person controls the character at any given time, while everyone else watches and waits for their turn. The game launched in early October 2026 and has attracted queues lasting more than an hour.

Jono is a free-to-play platformer built around short attempts. Each player gets one minute of control. If they die, the next person in line takes over from the exact point where the previous player failed. A live chat lets spectators comment while they wait.

A million levels, with permanent progress

The game contains one million randomly generated levels. Once a level is completed, it is permanently cleared and will not return. Players waiting in the queue can also create their own stages, giving the community a steady supply of challenges to attempt.

The format has already encouraged remarkable persistence. A single player spent over five hours attempting one fan-made level. Developer Part-Time Monkey has also said that more than 100 players have left the game open for at least 10 hours.

For readers interested in unusual interactive designs, the wider arcade news and gaming blog covers plenty of inventive projects beyond traditional cabinets.

The mystery at the end

What waits beyond the millionth level remains secret. The developer has not revealed the final reward, leaving players to speculate that it could be a huge challenge combining elements from every earlier course.

Reaching that point will take time. At roughly 5,000 completed levels per day, the developer estimates that players may not reach the conclusion until the middle of 2027—assuming the community gets there at all.

That distant finish line has not stopped players from enjoying the experiment. Jono currently holds a “Very Positive” rating on Steam. Reviews describe it as a social experiment, joke about waiting an hour before failing within 60 seconds, and compare the experience with taking turns playing a random game at a friend’s house.

A free game with no monetisation plans

Despite the attention, Part-Time Monkey does not plan to add monetisation to Jono. The developer is continuing to improve the game in response to player feedback, while keeping its central experience free.

Players who want to support the creator are instead encouraged to check out the developer’s other games. The developer has stated that Jono will remain free.

The shared queue gives Jono an arcade-like rhythm without requiring a multiplayer cabinet: every attempt is brief, every mistake affects the next player, and the audience becomes part of the event. It is a distinctly modern take on taking turns, built around patience, chat and community-made challenges.
